#1 Alabama and #3 Georgia are set for a rematch, this time with the national title at stake, when the SEC rivals square in the CFP National Championship Game at 8:00 pm ET at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
Both teams carry 13-1 records into the title game. Georgia’s lone loss came to Alabama 41-24 in the SEC Championship Game, though the Bulldogs bounced back to beat Michigan 34-11 in the Orange Bowl CFP semifinal.
Alabama downed Cincinnati 27-6 in the Cotton Bowl semifinal to run its winning streak to eight games. However, the Crimson Tide are 2.5-point underdogs in the championship game, with the Georgia vs Alabama odds seeing Georgia favored at -135 outright. Monday’s championship game will be broadcast by ESPN.
Alabama Crimson Tide Injury Report
The biggest injury question for Alabama leading up to the game is whether cornerback Jalyn Armour-Davis will play. He sustained a hip injury against Cincinnati on Dec. 31.

Armour-Davis is tied for the team lead with three interceptions. The Crimson Tide withstood his loss against the Bearcats as they held Desmond Ridder to 17-of-32 passing for 144 yards and no touchdowns.

Player | Position | Injury | Status |
---|---|---|---|
John Metchie III | WR | Knee | Out |
Josh Jobe | CB | Foot | Out |
Jalyn Armour-Davis | CB | Hip | Questionable |
Keanu Koht | LB | Foot | Questionable |
Roydell Williams | RB | Knee | Out |
Camar Wheaton | RB | Knee | Out |
Christopher Allen | LB | Foot | Out |
Jase McClellan | RB | Knee | Out |
However, Alabama will be without their other starting cornerback, Josh Jobe, who broke his foot in the SEC title game.
Missing both corners proved problematic against Georgia. Though it came in a losing effort, Bulldogs quarterback Stetson Bennett threw for 340 yards and three touchdowns while also being intercepted twice.
Bennett had 310 yards passing and three TDs in the win over Michigan.
Alabama was able to overcome the loss of leading receiver John Metchie III against Cincinnati after he suffered a knee injury against Georgia. The Crimson Tide and Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young threw for just 181 yards against the Bearcats but rolled up a season-high 301 yards rushing, including 198 by Brian Robinson Jr.

Alabama has played with just two healthy scholarship running backs in its last four games but that hasn’t slowed the Crimson Tide.
Georgia Bulldogs Injury Report
Georgia coach Kirby Smart said Saturday his Bulldogs are as healthy as “we’ve been in a long time.” Like Alabama, Georgia has avoided any COVID-19 case since arriving in Indianapolis on Friday night.
Georgia Injury Report
Player | Position | Injury | Status |
---|---|---|---|
Arian Smith | WR | Knee | Out |
Tykee Smith | DB | Knee | Out |
Trezman Marshall | LB | Knee | Out |
Rian Davis | LB | Quadriceps | Out |
Jalen Kimber | DB | Shoulder | Out |
Tate Ratledge | OL | Foot | Out |
The most notable name on Georgia’s injured list is defensive back Tykee Smith, who was a third-team Associated Press All-American last season while playing for West Virginia. The Bulldogs were happy to land Smith in the transfer portal after losing their entire starting secondary from 2020.

However, Smith played in only one game this season because of a knee injury.
The play of another transfer, cornerback Derion Kendrick, has softened the blow of losing Smith. Kendrick intercepted two passes against Michigan and was named the defensive player of the game.
Young torched Georgia’s vaunted defense for 461 yards through the air in the SEC Championship Game. However, the Bulldogs bounced back to limit Michigan to 325 total yards and one touchdown.
