  • Florida vs Missouri will collide in Week 5 of the 2026 CFB season
  • The Gators’ rushing attack faces a key test against the Tigers’ defensive front
  • My Florida vs Missouri prediction breaks down the early spread and total

Florida takes its unbeaten record to Columbia on Saturday, October 3, for a 3:30 p.m. ET matchup with Missouri on ABC. The Gators are 4-0, while the Tigers return home at 3-1.

Florida beat Ole Miss 52-28 last weekend behind another strong rushing performance. Missouri is looking to respond after a 31-24 loss at Mississippi State, where a late comeback fell short.

Below, I break down my Florida vs Missouri prediction, the matchup in the trenches and the early betting line for this SEC contest.

Florida vs Missouri Spread Best Bet

  • Spread pick: Missouri +4.5 (-108 at BetMGM)

I’m taking Missouri +4.5. Florida deserves to be favored after what it did to Ole Miss, but the Tigers’ run defense gives them a way to keep this within one possession. Getting more than a field goal at home is the part of this price that appeals to me.

Jadan Baugh rushed for 142 yards and three touchdowns against Ole Miss, while Duke Clark added 126 yards and a score on 12 carries. Missouri cannot simply load up to stop one back. Both runners can punish missed tackles and keep Florida ahead of the chains.

The Tigers have allowed 100.3 rushing yards per game and 2.77 yards per carry through four games. Those numbers will get a serious test here, but they are why I’m willing to back the underdog. Slowing Florida on early downs would force the Gators to win more passing situations.

Missouri also showed enough offensive life in Starkville to stay involved. Jamal Roberts ran for 95 yards on 26 carries, and Cayden Lee caught two touchdown passes. I expect the Tigers to find scoring opportunities at home, even if they cannot completely shut down Florida’s backfield.

Florida vs Missouri Total Points Best Bet

  • Total pick: Over 56.5 (-111 at BetMGM)

I also like Over 56.5. Florida has enough rushing depth to keep producing even against a stronger front, while Missouri’s late push against Mississippi State showed its ability to answer. The risk is the Tigers slowing this down more effectively than I expect, but my lean is toward both offenses doing their share.

Florida vs Missouri Stats

Through four gamesFlorida offenseMissouri defense
Rushing yards/game260.0100.3 allowed
Yards/carry5.882.77 allowed
Rushing touchdowns182 allowed

This is the matchup that will determine whether Missouri can cover. Florida’s season averages are excellent, but they do not guarantee the same production on the road. If the Tigers can make the Gators sustain longer drives, they have a better chance of avoiding the quick scoring runs that overwhelmed Ole Miss.

Florida vs Missouri Prediction

Missouri’s biggest challenge is making its defensive success translate into possessions for the offense. Holding Florida to a short gain on first down is only useful if the Tigers finish the series. Baugh and Clark give the Gators two productive runners to rotate, so Missouri needs to keep tackling well beyond the opening quarter.

The Tigers also need more from their own ground game. Roberts needed 26 carries to reach 95 yards against Mississippi State. That workload helped keep the offense balanced, but a similar effort could leave too many long third downs against Florida. Lee’s two touchdown catches offer another route to points if the Gators focus on stopping Roberts.

That is why I prefer Missouri with the points to the outright upset. The Tigers can lose a competitive game and still cover +4.5. Florida has earned respect with its start, but I’m backing Missouri’s run defense to make the Gators work harder for this road win.

Florida is favored by 4.5 points. Missouri bettors can cash with an outright win or a loss by four or fewer, while a Gators cover requires a victory by at least five. The Tigers are +170 on the moneyline, but I prefer taking the points.

Where you can place those bets depends on your location. Readers in the Sunshine State can compare the available Florida sports betting apps before choosing where to play.
