The No. 16 Florida Gators (4-1, 2-1 SEC) host the South Carolina Gamecocks (2-3, 0-3 SEC) on October 10, 2026. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:45 PM ET at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville, Florida.

Florida is coming off a 45-17 road loss to Missouri that dropped the Gators eight spots in the AP Poll. South Carolina is also trying to recover after a 35-34 overtime loss to Kentucky. For my South Carolina vs Florida prediction, I’m focusing on the major statistical difference between these teams: Florida has protected the football, while South Carolina has not.

My final South Carolina vs Florida prediction weighs the home-field advantage against two productive offenses. For bettors looking for sports betting picks, this is a clash of similar yardage production and contrasting situational execution.

My South Carolina vs Florida prediction is Florida -11.5. At 50¢ on Kalshi, that selection translates to roughly +100, or even money, in traditional American odds before fees. I’m backing the Gators because they have consistently given themselves more opportunities while avoiding the mistakes that have hurt South Carolina.

Florida enters this game with a +4 turnover differential, having committed four giveaways and created eight takeaways, including four interceptions and four fumble recoveries. South Carolina has committed eight turnovers and owns a -6 turnover differential. That difference should influence field position and give Florida’s offense more chances to score.

Florida also has the better record inside the 20-yard line, converting 25 of 26 red-zone opportunities for 96.2%. The Gators are 7-for-7 on field goals. South Carolina’s 90.0% red-zone efficiency is strong, but Florida’s combination of finishing drives and defensive pressure supports the double-digit spread.

I expect Florida to lean on its ground game, with Jadan Baugh a key part of the matchup against the Gamecocks’ front seven. That approach can help the Gators control the clock while limiting South Carolina’s opportunities. On the other side, Florida must account for LaNorris Sellers’ mobility and his ability to extend drives with his legs. Vernell Brown and Mazeo Bennett add important perimeter matchups for the two secondaries, but Florida’s turnover creation gives the Gators the more reliable overall profile.

Perhaps the best running back in the country, Baugh was bottled up to the tune of just 13 yards on 12 carries last week against Missouri. In the first four games of the season, Baugh’s worst output was 136 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns (on 14 carries). Even in SEC play, Baugh had been averaging 152 yards and three touchdowns per game. Expect him to have a big-time bounce-back.

For readers comparing prediction market apps, the Kalshi board presents Florida as the clear favorite, while leaving some uncertainty around whether the Gators can win by more than 11.5 points. The total also reflects the offensive production of both teams, which combine to average more than 82 points and nearly 1,000 total yards per game.

That pressure, combined with South Carolina’s eight offensive turnovers, is the matchup factor I trust most.

Florida’s ability to create extra possessions and finish drives gives me enough confidence to keep my original South Carolina vs Florida prediction: Florida -11.5.
