The matchup most were hoping to see has come to fruition. Paige Bueckers and the #2 UConn Huskies (36-3) will face the #1 UCLA Bruins (34-2) in the Final Four at Amalie Arena in in Tampa, FL. Though UCLA has the fewest losses in the entire country his year, the Huskies have opened as huge favorites.

The Huskies has opened as 10.5-point favorites and -650 on the moneyline but that line almost immediately shifted towards UCLA and as of Tuesday morning, UConn is now an 8.5-point favorite and -410 on the moneyline. The Bruins come back as +320 underdogs, compared to +470 in the opening line. The total opened at 135.5 with -110 odds both ways and has stayed there.

UConn enters the Final Four as the -150 favorite to win the national championship, well ahead of second-favorite South Carolina (+250), who will face Texas (+600). in the Final Four. The Gamecocks are currently 4.5-point favorites over the Longhorns. UCLA is +750 to win the national title.

UConn Keeps Rolling

Now 25-1 in their last 26 games, the Huskies have won all 25 of those games by double-digits. In the Sweet 16, Paige Bueckers (20.1 PPG, 4.4 RPG, 4.8 APG) had an absolutely electric night with 40 points, a new career high, in an 82-59 rout of #3 Oklahoma.

They caught a break in the Elite Eight, drawing a USC team that had recently lost JuJu Waikins to a leg injury. Watkins was the player-of-the-year favorite before the injury. The Trojans put up more resistance than most of UConn’s recent opponents, but still wound up on the wrong end of a 78-64 decision.

Bueckers once again led the way with 31 points, three rebounds, and six assists.

UConn is not only the top-rated team in the country in Bart Torvik’s analytics, the Huskies have the top offense and the best defense. ULCA also has reasonably good balance, sitting top-ten in both categories.

UCLA Survives LSU

The Bruins had no troubles in the first three rounds of the tournament, disting #16 Southern (84-46), #8 Richmond, and #5 Ole Miss (72-65). Their Elite Eight game against LSU was considerably close. The Bruins led by just five entering the fourth quarter, ultimately emerging with a seven-point win (72-65) as 8.5-point favorites.

Junior center Lauren Betts (20.0 PPG, 9.6 RPG. 2.8 APG) has been nothing short of sensational so far. She scored 30 points with 14 rebounds against Richmond, and then put up a 31-point, 10-rebound double-double against Ole Miss. In the Elite Eight against LSU she was, by her lofty standards, pedestrian, with 17 points and seven rebounds in 25 minutes.
