Texas Betting Outlook

Three-point shooting was a major factor Tuesday in Texas’ win over Iowa State. The Longhorns shot 42.9% (12 of 28) from beyond the arc to the Cyclones’ 21.1% (4 of 19).

Sophomore guard Tyrese Hunter, senior guard Sir’Jabari Rice and senior guard Marcus Carr each knocked down three threes for Texas.

Hunter helped lead a balanced scoring attack with 15 points. It marked just the third time in his last 11 games that Hunter reached double figures.

Rice also had 15 points. Carr added 13 points and five assists for Texas, which forced 16 turnovers.

Carr is averaging 17.0 points, 4.1 assists and 1.6 steals a game. He ranks fourth in the Big 12 in scoring and his 45.4 field goal percentage is fifth.

Rice has a 12.1 scoring average after transferring from UTEP. Senior forward Timmy Allen has averages of 10.8 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.5 assists.

Texas is 26th nationally in scoring (79.4) and 35th in field goal percentage (47.6).

Baylor Betting Outlook

Baylor got outplayed in two areas in its loss on Tuesday. It was outscored 42-16 in points in the paint and 19-5 in transition.

That negated the Bears holding Kansas State to 4 of 21 (19.0%) on three-point attempts.

Guard Keyonte George continued his outstanding freshman season for Baylor with 23 points on 6-of-10 shooting from long-distance. It was the second straight in which George scored at least 20 points and 12th this season.

George’s 16.9 scoring average is fifth in the conference. He is also pulling down 4.5 rebounds and dishing 3.0 assists a game.

LJ Cryer was 4 of 7 on three-pointers, finishing with 16 points and six assists.  He raised his season scoring average to 14.9 and is fourth in the Big 12 in shooting at 46.5%.

Senior forward Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua notched his first double-double of 2022-23 with 11 points and 12 rebounds.

Kansas State held senior guard Adam Flagler to a season-low four points on 1-of-13 shooting. He is averaging 15.6 points and his 4.9 assists per game are fourth in the Big Ten.

Baylor is averaging 78.0 points a game, which is 44th in Division I.

Texas vs Baylor Prediction

Texas beat Baylor 76-71 on Jan. 30 in Austin, ending the Bears’ streak of six straight wins and 12 victories in the last 13 games in the series. Rice led the Longhorns with 21 points and Cryer topped the Bears with 19.

Look for Texas to get the better of Baylor, which is slumping a bit, in the rematch between two of the nation’s most exciting teams.
