North Alabama vs Lipscomb Picks

  • North Alabama +4.5 (-102) at DraftKings

It could be an historic night for North Alabama, who have 14 NCAA Division II Tournament appearances and two national titles, but they’ve yet to dance in Division I.

This is a great chance for them to accomplish this, and they’re getting a decent set of points as well to lean their way.

That’s the way that I’m going, as the Lions can hang with the Bisons on both sides of the ball. North Alabama is second in ASUN scoring at 79.6 points per game, just a few ticks above Lipscomb who’s in at 79.4 points.

The Bisons own the top scoring defense in the conference at a stingy 67.4 points per contest, but the Lions are in third, at 70.4 points.

UNA has ripped off 10 wins in its last 11, the only blemish a 75-63 loss to these very Bisons, a team they had dispatched in mid-January by a 74-64 count.

These teams couldn’t be more even: they’ve alternated wins and losses in 10 straight games, but North Alabama has been a better cover team in the recent matchups, going 5-2-0 against the spread in the last seven.

Lipscomb has failed to cover in three straight, but they’ve been massive favorites in all three — 9.5-point favorites over Queen’s and 19.5 points in back-to-back games against Central Arkansas.

North Alabama hasn’t been tested much down the stretch. Aside from the loss to the Bisons, they have just one game that ended inside a 10-point differential over their last nine, and they’ve gone 8-2-0 ATS over the last 10.

Even if Lipscomb advances, it won’t be by much.
