On Monday night in Durham, one team living up to lofty preseason expectations hosts another that is, to put it mildly, not. The #2 Duke Blue Devils (17-2, 11-0 home, 12-7 ATS) host the NC State Wolfpack (9-10, 0-4 away away, 6-13 ATS) tonight at Cameron Indoor Stadium at 8:30 pm ET, and the Blue Devils are massive double-digit home favorites.
NC State vs Duke Odds
Duke is laying 21.5 points to their instate rival and is priced as a -3600 moneyline favorite. The Wolfpack come back as +1500 road underdogs to end their four-game losing streak in the unlikeliest of fashions.

The Blue Devils have become the +450 favorites in the March Madness championship odds, just ahead of the top-ranked Auburn Tigers (+500). After Duke and Auburn, there is a sizable gap to third-favorite Houston (+900).
Duke Owns Nation’s Longest Win Streak
Duke enters play on Monday riding a 13-game win streak, the longest in Division I. The Blue Devils haven’t lost since a 75-72 thriller against Kansas in Las Vegas on Nov. 26. Among their 13 straight wins are a home victory over #1 Auburn (84-78 home) along with three other top-50 victories.
Freshman sensation Cooper Flagg () has been the main catalyst for Duke’s surge after a 4-2 start to the campaign. The 6’6 wing leads Duke in points (19.1 PPG), rebounds (8.0 RPG), assists (4.2 APG), steals (1.5 SPG), and blocks (1.2 BPG) during a freshman season for the history books.
Flagg’s dominance has cemented him as the heavy favorite in the 2025 Wooden Award odds as national player of the year. At DraftKings, Flagg is currently -700 to win the award, with second-favorite Johni Broome of Auburn at +310.
Last time out, Flagged stuffed the stat sheet with 24 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and a block in a
63-56 at Wake Forest. The Blue Devils lost against the spread, though, as 11.5-point road favorites.
NC State Struggling
After losing DJ Horne (16.9 PPG, 3.5 RPG), DJ Byrnes (12.9 PPG, 4.0 RPG), and Casey Morsell (11.1 PPG, 2.8 RPG) from last season’s Final Four team, everyone expected NC State to take a step back. But with Jayden Taylor (11.2 PPG), Michael O’Connell (5.7 PPG), and Ben Middlebrooks (5.7 PPG) back, joined by Bowling Green guard Marcus Hill (20.5 PPG, 5.0) and Georgetown forward Dontrez Styles (12.8 PPG, 5.8 RPG), the decline wasn’t supposed to be this precipitous.
NC State entered the year rated 53rd at KenPom. Their 9-10 start to the season has dropped them all the way to 101st. They also sit 101st at Haslametrics and are even lower (106th) at Torvik.
Only 17 of the 364 Division I teams have a worse ATS record than the Wolfpack, who are an awful 6-13 against the number so far this season.
The only game they have covered in their last seven was a 63-61 setback at rival North Carolina as 4.5-point home underdogs.
NC State is 2-7 straight-up against top-100 teams. Their wins came over #69 Florida State (84-74 OT, home) and #76 Notre Dame (66-65 home).
The Wolfpack have yet to win a true road game this season (0-4), also going 0-4 against the spread in that quartet of away games. Their most-recent road game was a 79-76 setback to #176 Virginia Tech as one-point favorites.
The last time NC State was on the court, the Wolfpack suffered a 63-57 home loss to #49 SMU as three-point home underdogs.

The NC State vs Duke player props are fairly limited, with the top-three Blue Devil scorers and top-two Wolfpack scorers on the board.
While Flagg’s point total of 20.5 is slightly over his season average of 19.5 PPG, he has hit the 20-point plateau in five of his last seven games and averaged 24.8 PPG in that seven-game span.
NC State vs Duke Picks & Predictions
I don’t expect the outcome of this game to be in any serious doubt after about the five-minute mark. But I also don’t expect the Wolfpack to roll over and die against a bitter rival. Kevin Keatts’ team is playing way below its potential. And even though they have lost four in a row and six of seven heading into Monday night, the last four setbacks have all been by six or fewer (and by a combined 14 points).
While Cooper Flagg might have his way with an undersized Wolfpack group, I’m backing NC State to cover as huge underdogs. The fact that I like the Wolfpack to make a game of it also motivates my bet on Flagg’s point total over; I don’t think head coach Jon Scheyer is going to be able to rest him for the majority of the second half, like he did against Miami a couple weeks ago.
