Wisconsin is 7-3 SU and ATS in the last 10 meetings in the series that is usually played only once a year because of the Big Ten’s unbalanced schedule. The total has gone under in seven of those games, with one push. The Badgers have won and covered each of the last two meetings. They are 3-1 SU and 2-2 ATS in the last four in Madison, all as a favorite. They are 6-2 ATS this season.

Maryland is 7-1 ATS, 2-0 on a neutral court and 1-0 in its only true road game, a 79-54 dismantling of struggling Louisville. The Terps failed to cover only as a 24-point favorite in a 95-79 victory over neighboring Coppin State, 31 miles north. The total have gone under in five of the Terps’ eight games.
Maryland Still Undefeated
Willard became the first coach in Big Ten history to win each of the first seven games in his tenure by 15 points or more this season as the Terps got to 8-0 for the second time in four seasons, and he has the Terrapins rolling after transitioning from Seton Hall. He brought in portal transfer starters Jahmir Young (Charlotte) and Donald Carey (Georgetown) to replace the more erratic Fatts Russell and Eric Ayala.

Young is averaging 15.1 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.3 assists, and his go ahead three-pointer around a pick from the top of the key with 14.3 seconds remaining was the difference in the victory over Illinois, which missed a three at the other end on its next possession. Young had a season-high 24 points.
Young is hitting 49 percent from the field. Carey (7.9 points) is the only starter not averaging in double figures on a team that is shooting 49.3 percent from the floor and limiting opponents to 39.2 percent. Holdover 6’7 forward Donta Scott is averaging 15.4 pointes and 6.0 rebounds, and 6’9 Julian Reese is at 12.6, 7.8. The Terps have not trailed by more than three points this season and have outscored opponents in 15 of 16 halves.
Wisconsin Plays ’em Close
The Badgers enter on a high after winning the I-94 Bowl with an 80-77 upset victory over Marquette in Milwaukee, 79 miles east of the Badgers’ campus in Madison. Sophomore point guard Chucky Hepburn, who appears to have taken a step up after the departure of 2021-22 top scorers Johnny Davis and Brad Davison, had 19 points against the Warriors and had the game-winning assist in overtime. Hepburn is averaging 12.5 points and 2.4 three-pointers per game.
Chucky Hepburn was great off the bounce against Marquette. He showed off his shotmaking bag from deep with an array of stepbacks.

Without the athletic Davis, the Badgers have had a time finding easy offense and are shooting only 39.9 percent from the field. They are limiting to opponents to only 40.8 percent, and as usual prize the ball with a slower pace. Wisconsin is averaging only 10.3 turnovers per game, among the best in Division I, and has a plus-2.8 turnover margin.
Maryland vs Wisconsin Prediction
Maryland is two games into a testing four-game stretch — following this game, the Terps play host to No. 7 Tennessee and No. 19 UCLA next week. The Terps have had trouble in this matchup in recent seasons, and as well as they have played this season, it is hard to buck history. The Kohl Center is not an easy place to play, and Maryland beat a very poor Louisville team in its only other true road game. The Badgers keep things close. Their last seven games have been decided by 11 points or fewer, and four have been decided by one point or in overtime.
