The Cardinals have won ten straight games, though they are just 6-4-0 against the spread in that span. They have mowed down the competition down the home stretch, winning by double digits in eight of nine before the ACC Tournament. They did have their scare though, barely surviving Stanford 75-73 to get to the conference Final Four.

It’s a similar path taken by Clemson, who enter this one winners of nine straight. Prior to the tournament, they had just one game in the last eight that was within single digits, but they had were taken to the limit by SMU in the ACC quarters, outlasting the Mustangs 57-54 — by far their lowest scoring output this season.

The Tigers aren’t getting much consideriation in the March Madness odds, though: Clemson sits at +6000 odds, with Louisville not registering in the Top 25.

Louisville’s Chucky Hepburn and Terrance Edwards share a tie for the highest scoring prop in this game, at 17.5 points. Hepburn, of course, played hero with a buzzer-beating jumper to down Stanford in the quarterfinals.

He’s had a few scoring outbursts down the stretch, including 37 against Pitt and 29 against Florida State, but he’s gone Under this total in 10 of his last 13. Hepburn also has the highest assist total, at 5.5.

Edwards has been a more consistent scorer of late: he had 25 against Stanford, and has gone for 23 or more in three of his last four outings.

Chase Hunter has the highest scoring prop for Clemson at 15.5 points. He had 21 in the rockfight against SMU, and he’s gone for 16 or more in six of his last 11. Still, it’s been boom or bust for Hunter: he’s also had four single-digit scoring games in that stretch.

Ian Schieffelin has the highest rebounding prop figure at 8.5. He’s topped that figure five times in nine games, including a 12-rebound effort against SMU.

Clemson vs Louisville Prediction

These are two powerhouse squads that are going to the NCAA Tournament, with only their seeding left to be determined.

Only a standout season from Duke kept them from an ACC regular season crown, with both finishing the conference slate at 18-2.

Both Clemson and Louisville are ranked inside KenPom’s Top 25 overall rankings, and they’re evenly matched. Nineteenth-ranked Clemson is 21st in KenPom’s offensive efficiency metric and 17th on the defensive side, while 25th-ranked Louisville sits 27th in offensive rating and 23rd in defensive efficiency.

The Cardinals were fourth in the ACC in scoring at 79.2 points per game, with Clemson right behind them in fifth at 76.4. The Tigers were second in scoring defense at 65.3 points per contest, with Louisville in fifth at 68.7 points per game.

There’s not a ton to glean from their only meeting this year, other than a career night for Louisville’s J’Vonne Hadley. His 32 points, 10 rebounds and four assists was the outlier, as the Cardinals shot 45.5% from the field, compared to 40% for Clemson.

The Cardinals got to the stripe a ton, getting 15 more trips and going 16-for-20, outscoring the Tigers by 12 points in that category alone.

Clemson will try to shake off a rough offensive performance against SMU, shooting just 38.3% from the field, including a brutal 4-for-21 from 3-point range, a paltry 19%.

The Cardinals are definitely the stronger offensive team going, as they shot 50.9% against Stanford, while hitting 8-for-23 from distance.

These teams have alternated wins and losses in six straight head-to-head meetings, so it’s no wonder again the odds are about as close to a pick’em as you can get.

That Clemson was the ACC’s best cover team as a favorite, going 17-9-0 against the spread on the year is the difference maker for me in what should be a dynamite battle.
