Every 4th of July (12:00pm EST) we celebrate our independence. Some choose to fire up the BBQ and light off some fireworks, while others come together on Coney Island to marvel at the single greatest feat of athleticism Major League Eating and the International Federation of Competitive Eating can muster: crushing hot dogs.
This year marks the 102nd Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July Hot Dog Eating Contest, and yet again, Joey Chestnut is the favorite to win.

Joseph “Jaws” Chestnut successfully defended his title and launched himself into the sporting world stratosphere after earning his 10th Mustard Belt and a cool $10,000.
Jaws packed away an astonishing 72 hot dogs in ten minutes, breaking his own previous world record of 70 HDBs (hot dogs and buns) from the year before. In fact, Joey has be so dominant that the only blip on his resume was in 2015 when Matt Stonie smashed 62 dogs to Chestnut’s 60.
