For the first time in Champions League history, two Germans teams will meet in the final. Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich meet this Saturday at 2:45 PM ET at Wembley stadium for the most important title in European soccer.
Dortmund won the last two German leagues, so before this year they dominated the Bundesliga and Bayern Munich, but the Bavarians won it this season and are attempting to get three titles this year including the UEFA Champions League.
Munich will be in the final for the third year in four years, but they have lost the previews two, including last season against Chelsea, where they were the massive favorite as they played in their home stadium.
Both teams play tremendous offensive football that comes from pressuring the rival at midfield, but Bayern is favorite this year because they have more known playmakers in the attack.
Dortmund will be without attacking midfielder Mario Goetze, who will miss the final because of an injury. “When players like Goetze drop out, maybe the team gets a little weaker,” Bayern Bastian Schweinsteiger said. “It would have been the biggest game of his career, so I sympathize with him.
“However Dortmund will put out 11 players who will give 100 percent for the cause,” said Schweinsteiger, hoping that four-times European champions Bayern win the trophy after twice falling at the last hurdle in the past three years.
Bayern has reached the final four times since 1999, but they won it just once. The soccer odds for the 2013 UEFA Champions League have Bayern Munich set at -135 and Dortmund +325 for the game on Saturday.
