Man City will have the opportunity to prove their value in Europe against the most winningest team in the continent, Real Madrid, this Tuesday at 14:45 PM ET in the first match-day of the 2012/13 UEFA Champions League season.
City won the Premier League last season, but failed to pass through the group stage in last season champions league. They need to do a better job this year.
Currently, Roberto Mancini’s team have won two games and tied other two in the Premier League; they are in fourth place just two points behind leader Chelsea.
The ‘Citizens’ just resigned playmaker David Silva, who actually chose to stay in Manchester over playing at Real Madrid. “When I joined City, they showed more interest in signing me than Real,” Silva said. “I’m happy with the choice I made”.
“I didn’t feel bitter that Real didn’t want to sign me,” Silva added. “I was very small. I was only 11 – I put it out of my mind. Maybe if, I had gone there things would have been worse. I’m glad of the career path I’ve had.”
Madrid, on the other hand, seems desperate as they have won only one game of the last four in the Spanish league, losing two, including a 1-0 defeat this weekend against Sevilla.
The Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho claimed he ‘didn’t have a team’ following the 1-0 reversal to Sevilla, comments which have riled former Madrid president Ramon Calderon.
‘Mourinho’s comments don’t help the team in any way. The players could just as easily say that they don’t have a coach right now,’ Calderon stated to RAC1.
While City is playing at a good-decent level, Real Madrid is trying to find a healthy locker room. The English are the better choice.
