Chisora vs Szpilka goes this Saturday at the O2 Arena in London. It’s one of many compelling heavyweight fights slated for the Matchroom card. Both of these pugilists have over a decade of experience and have competed at a high level in their respective careers. The bout is also an unofficial rematch, depending on how much importance you place on the cinematic sweet science.

Artur Szpilka | +220 |

Chisora has an accomplished resume but seems to have a certain ceiling over him in terms of who he can hang with. Dereck Chisora has won significant international belts (WBA and WBO) and has collected a lot of U.K gold (British, Commonwealth, and European).
Szpilka has also collected an international belt with IBF but fell short in his WBC world title bid to Deontay Wilder. Both men are trying to overcome a perception of them being a bit lower on the proverbial heavyweight totem pole.
🤯🎥 Bit of an obscure fact about Dereck Chisora vs Artur Szpilka – it’s a fight that’s happened before, in the background of a scene from Polish film ‘Pitbull: Ostatni Pies’ [2018]. Understand why Szpilka was in it (he’s Polish), but how Chisora got involved is a mystery. pic.twitter.com/M9lBOKae6p

Chisora vs Szpilka is key for establishing order among the upper mid-tier heavyweights. Both men are ranked in that top 20-25 range. Dillian Whyte topping the marquee adds some narrative tendrils to this fight too.
Chisora lost by KO in his second last bout to Whyte and is looking to get a statement win to rally towards a Dillian rematch down the line. There’s also some rumblings of Chisora’s promoter Eddie Hearn setting up a fight with former WBO champion Joseph Parker for the fall.

Chisora vs Szpilka is interesting because if the Polish pugilist is to ever beat Chisora, now would be an opportune time. Chisora is 1-1 in his last couple bouts and looked fairly flat despite winning his last prize fight.
This is Chisora’s fifth straight bout at the O2 Arena and his trainer Dave Coldwell is hoping his fighter makes a big statement. Szpilka is also a southpaw which is a stance that can be notoriously difficult to deal with.

Szpilka has a certain elusive style whereby he could notch a decision over Chisora. This would be his most likely path to victory as Szpilka is younger and more mobile while Chisora generally doesn’t get knocked out. All that being said, I have Dereck Chisora in this fight.
I think Chisora has had a stronger strength of schedule in his career and has had bigger moments. Despite some inconsistencies throughout his run, I think Chisora beats Szpilka live on DAZN and Sky Sports Box Office Saturday night.
Pick: Chisora (-280)
