Angelo Leo vs. Tramaine Williams is for a vacant world title between two unbeaten pugilists. Although it’s a killer fight, it’s still one that came about on short notice. Stephen Fulton Jr was supposed to be standing opposite of Angelo Leo on fight night.
Unfortunately, Fulton Jr and two members of his team tested positive for COVID 19. Fulton Jr is self-quarantining off-site from the fight venue and is expected to face the winner of this bout later on in 2020 or the early part of next year.
Williams vs Leo is a twelve round bout at 122 pounds and broadcasts on Showtime. Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut is where these two warriors will step into the ring with only one emerging as the new WBO champion.

Tramaine Williams Stepping up for Title Fight
The WBO junior featherweight title is the prize up for grabs in this prizefight. Former champ Emanuel Navarrete gave up the hardware to pursue championship glory in a higher division.

Williams enters this bout ranked number #6 by the WBO in this weight class. He seems to see the title opportunity as bittersweet and seems to feel for Fulton Jr being robbed of the opportunity so last minute. Still though, Williams is seizing this moment and is ready to achieve his own dream of world championship glory.
Angelo Leo Adjusting to the Opponent Switch
Leo is the number two ranked WBO contender in this weight class. He takes on an individual who was previously scheduled to fight Raeese Aleem on Saturday’s undercard. Leo seems largely unfazed by the opponent switch and promises a top quality performance all the same.
Obviously there are some key stylistic switches to consider (now facing a southpaw instead of an orthodox opponent) but Angelo Leo is maintaining his composure. A champion-caliber mind that has been honed through personal effort and groomed by some of the biggest names in the sweet science.

Both men are 19-0 as professionals. The parity in this bout is reflected in the closeness of the betting line. I think Williams will hold the advantage during the in-fighting, close-quarters kind of exchanges while Leo can dictate the pace of the fight at a distance.
It’s simply a matter of who can implement their game plan better and execute it more consistently.
Williams vs Leo Tale of the Tape
19-0 | Record | 19-0 |
6 | Knockouts | 9 |
5’4 | Height | 5’6 |
68″ | Reach | 69″ |
Yenifel Vicente, Neil John Tabanao, Jose Alfredo Rodriguez | Significant Wins | Cesar Juarez, Neil John Tabanao, Glenn Porras |
Southpaw | Stance | Orthodox |
Neither man comes into this with a world-beater kind of knockout rate. I can certainly see the judges’ scorecards playing a role in the fight outcome here. Leo will have to be on his guard for the entirety of the bout and cannot have even a microsecond of lost focus. Ultimately though, I think he is able to sustain that en route to a unanimous decision win. I see the latter defeating the former when Williams vs Leo goes down.
Pick: Angelo Leo (+105)
