What is the Manning Kick of Destiny?
Kick of Destiny is a FanDuel promotional event that matches a real-life contest — as ridiculous as it may be — with the opportunity to win bonus bets on FanDuel sportsbook.
This year, it is the Manning Kick of Destiny, as the two brothers will each attempt a 25-yard field goal, and if one makes while the other misses, a winner will be declared. If they both make it, they’ll kick again. If they both miss, they’ll move five yards closer and try again. If they are still tied after three rounds, whoever was closest to the center target on the net in the final round will win.
This will be aired live on television during FOX’s Super Bowl pregame show prior to kickoff of Eagles vs. Chiefs.
FanDuel customers that pick the correct Manning will split $10 million in bonus bets.
FanDuel Kick of Destiny 3 Prediction: Should You Pick Peyton or Eli?
While the process of making your FanDuel Kick of Destiny pick is incredibly easy, deciding on who to pick is quite a bit more difficult.
For sports bettors used to researching their picks, I have bad news: there appears to be no real history that points us to whether or not Peyton or Eli can actually kick.
A quick Google search appears to show us that Peyton kicked a field goal in college. Clicking through, however, shows that it’s really just an awkwardly clipped snippet of his Wikipedia page and he did not actually do that.
It’s not much better for Eli. His Wikipedia entry does pop up, but includes “Missing: kicked” in the description. His kicking stats also come up, but they’re blank.
So, who do you pick? I’m going with Eli Manning, and here’s why: as a little brother, you need to find your niche and something that you can excel at that your older brothers may have ignored so you can join in. I’m guessing that at some point, Eli was allowed to join into games with Peyton and Cooper, but they told him, “you can be the kicker” to make him feel important.
This, of course, runs contrary to the initial commercial where Peyton scolds Eli for thinking he’d be a kicker. But maybe that’s just what they want you to think!
How Much Will You Win on Kick of Destiny 3?
The amount of your bonus bet will depend on how many people made the same decision as you. The winners will share $10 million in bonus bets, which is a lot!
But how many people play? A year ago, 1.7 million FanDuel users played Kick of Destiny. You could expect at least as many will play this year. In fact, it’s probably safe to assume that number will go up. Just for math purposes, let’s say 2 million people play this year, and the picks are split evenly.
So, if Eli wins as we predicted, 1 million people will share $10 million in bonus bets, meaning the would each receive a $10 bonus bet.
It’s not likely to be that clean, but our guess would be that bonus comes in around $10.
When is FanDuel Kick of Destiny 3 and How Can I watch?
The winner of FanDuel Kick of Destiny 3 will be decided during the Super Bowl pregame show on FOX, sometime after 3 p.m. and before the Chiefs and Eagles kick off.
This is the third year for this free Super Bowl contest, but the first time two people will compete against each other. In each of the past two years, Rob Gronkowski was the lone kicker. In the first year, he kicked to win players bonus bets, while in the second you were able to pick whether he would make or miss. Gronk missed both times.
