Wisconsin Sports Betting

Wisconsin sports betting is only legal in tribal casinos whose tribes have successfully amended their gaming compacts to allow sports betting.

The Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians received notice from the National Register on April 9, 2024, that its gaming compact had been successfully amended to allow for Class III gaming (sports betting) in the state.

“Lake of the Torches is excited to add retail sports betting to our property as a new gaming amenity for our valued guests to enjoy,” said Bill Guelcher, Chief Executive Officer, Lake of the Torches Resort Casino, in a press release. “Our goal is to implement sports betting operations with a strong brand recognition and extremely high quality product performance, and we’re honored to collaborate with DraftKings as an industry leader.”

Upon launch, customers 21-years-of-age and older will have access to six DraftKings sportsbook kiosks and one over-the-counter window located on the casino floor, adjacent to the property’s sports bar.

It will be DraftKings 28th live U.S. state, in addition to Washington, D.C., and Ontario, Canada.

“DraftKings has established a great relationship with the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians, and we can’t wait to bring the DraftKings Sportsbook brand to Wisconsin,” said Michael Kibort, Vice President of Retail Sportsbooks at DraftKings. “Providing a best-in-class customer experience has always been a top priority for our company and the opportunity to deliver that experience to customers in yet another state is a proud moment for DraftKings.”

Seventh Tribe to Offer Sports Betting

The Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians is the seventh tribe to offer retail sports betting in Wisconsin. Online sports betting is not currently legal in the state, but the Oneida tribe utilizes its own online sports betting app to allow customers to place bets while on its tribal property.

DraftKings has made no mention of an app to use on the casino property.
