Odds Of Trump Impeachment Grow Much More Likely Leading up to State of Union

• New revelations that U.S.  President Donald Trump allegedly told his lawyer Michael Cohen to lie to Congress have renewed calls for Trump’s Impeachment
• Democrats appear to be leaning toward impeachment
• We now see increased odds that Trump will be impeached

Impeachment went from the back burner to the front page after the latest revelations involving US President Donald Trump.

Published reports on Thursday declared that Trump told his lawyer Michael Cohen to lie to Congress about Trump’s negotiations with Russia to build a Trump Tower in Moscow.

If these reports prove to be true, then Trump directed one of his employees to lie to the government, and that is a crime.

Special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian involvement in the 2016 US Presidential Election has led over 100 criminal charges being laid, but none have connected the dots directly to Trump. If this allegation is proven, then that is the case.

Odds President Donald Trump Will be Impeached

It’s important to note here that this bet only requires that the Democrat-controlled House of Representatives votes to approve the articles of impeachment be brought against Trump.

It does not require that the Republican-controlled Senate vote to convict Trump in order to cash a winning wager.

Impeachment Is Definitely In Play

The calls for Trump’s impeachment were ramped up dramatically after these latest revelations. Some prominent publications were quick to call for it on Friday.

Democrats seemed to be of the opinion that impeachment was a card they would play later rather than sooner, allowing Mueller to do his due diligence and build a stronger case against Trump.

But if the latest developments are proven to be correct, then they’ve just been handed a strong obstruction of justice case against Trump.

There are also concerns that William Barr, Trump’s nominee for attorney general, might not make the Mueller findings public.

Although during his confirmation hearing, Barr appeared to hand Congress Trump on a platter when he cofirmed when questioned that asking a subordinate to commit perjury would be a clear case of obstruction of justice, an impeachable offense for a President.

Is It Watergate All Over Again?

The Watergate scandal in the early 1970s that led to the resignation of President Richard Nixon when he was on the verge of impeachment played out in hauntingly similar fashion to the Trump-Russia investigation.

As dominoes fell, the pattern kept trending toward the White House and ultimately the smoking gun was an obstruction of justice charge against Nixon.
