  • Sportsbooks are offering a prop bet on who will end up with more sacks, Khalil Mack or the Oakland Raiders as a team
  • Mack has recorded 12.5 sacks this season
  • The Raiders have recorded 12 sacks this season, last in the NFL

Upon further review, perhaps trading Khalil Mack to the Chicago Bears wasn’t the wisest decision in the history of the Oakland Raiders.

In his first season with the Bears, outside linebacker Mack is tied for sixth in the NFL with 12.5 sacks.

Meanwhile, the Raiders are the NFL sad sacks of the sack business, bundling up the opposing quarterback in his own backfield just 12 times this season. Not only is that last overall in the 32-team NFL, it’s a dozen sacks behind the 31st-ranked team, the Miami Dolphins.

The latest online prop bet asks who will finish the season with more sacks, Mack or the Raiders.

Odds to Record More Sacks in 2018 NFL Season

Who Will Record More Sacks in the 2018 NFL Regular Season? Odds
Oakland Raiders -165
Khalil Mack +125

Mack’s 2018 sack total is already two ahead of his season total last year for the Raiders.

Mack Knifing Through Offenses

As the Bears make a late-season bid for a first-round bye in the NFC playoffs, Mack is leading the charge.

The NFC North champion Bears have won seven of their last eight games, and down the stretch, Mack has taken his sack game to another level.

He has 4.5 sacks in the last three games, and 2.5 sacks last Sunday against the Green Bay Packers as the Bears clinched the division crown.

Mack has posted his best season since he had 15 sacks for the Raiders in 2015 despite missing two games while dealing with ankle and groin ailments.

Raiders Of The Lost . . . Well, They’re Just Lost

Maybe if someone drew them a diagram, the Raiders could get into the enemy backfield. Can you utilize Google Maps to devise a route to get to the quarterback?

Defensive tackle Maurice Hurst leads the Raiders with four sacks, but he hasn’t recorded one in the past four games. He’s tied for 82nd in the NFL in sacks.

Seven NFL players have more sacks than the entire Raiders team, and another four are tied with the Raiders in sacks.

Mack Has It In the Bag

On the surface, this might seem like a sucker bet, a whole team against one guy. But we’re here to tell you, the suckers are anyone foolish enough to bet on the Raiders.

12.5 Sacks this season 12
4.5 Sacks last 3 games 2
49ers (3.14) Sacks allowed per game by Week 16 opponent Broncos (2.28)
Vikings (2.42) Sacks allowed per game by Week 17 opponent Chiefs (1.78)

While Mack is getting some DPOY buzz, Amari Cooper, the receiver the Raiders dealt to Dallas, is tearing it up on the other side of the ball.

This whole second coming of Jon Gruden isn’t working out so well. Mack has favorable matchups in terms of sacks allowed in his last two games. He’s the smart play here.
