The Los Angeles Lakers (50-32, 31-10 home) were pushed to the brink of elimination on Sunday night by the Minnesota Timberwolves (49-33, 24-17 away), who came back to beat LA 116-113 in Game 4 in Minneapolis. The T-Wolves will have their first chance to end the series in Game 5 in Los Angeles on Wednesday, April 30.
Wednesday’s game will tip-off at 7:10 pm PT/10:10 pm ET and Los Angeles has opened as a sizable home favorite in the Timberwolves vs Lakers Game 5 odds.
Timberwolves vs Lakers Game 5 & Series Odds
Los Angeles has opened as a 4.5-point home favorite in the Game 5 Timberwolves/Lakers odds. On the moneyline, LA is a -185 favorite, which equals a 64.91% implied win probability. The T-Wolves come back as +154 road underdogs in Wednesday’s NBA odds, which is a 39.37% implied win probability. The game total has opened at 211.5 O/U.

Sunday’s Game 4, a 116-113 Minnesota victory, was the second straight that went over its game total, hitting 229 points against a total of just 208.5. The previous six meetings this season between the Lakers and T-Wolves all stayed under.
The Lakers let an 11-point second-half lead slip away on Sunday night. The Lakers were absolutely torched by Anthony Edwards, who poured in 43 points in the comeback victory, including a bundle of late free throws to both put Minnesota on top and seal the victory. Julius Randle chipped in with 25 points and seven boards, while Rudy Gobert had his first double-digit rebound game of the series in just 26 minutes.
Luka Doncic had a team-high 38 points in a losing effort for the Lakers, shooting 13-of-28 from the floor. LeBron James added 27 points, 12 rebounds, and eight assists.
Timberwolves vs Lakers Series Odds Heavily Favor Minnesota
The Lakers have become huge +375 underdogs to win their best-of-seven series with the T-Wolves, and history is not on their side. Only 13 of 288 NBA teams have ever overcome a 3-1 series deficit, which is just a 4.5 win percentage. The last team to do it was the 2020 Denver Nuggets, who did it in the second round against the LA Clippers, immediately after doing it in the first round against the Utah Jazz.
The last time the Lakers franchise overcame a 3-1 deficit in a best-of-seven series was all the way back in 1970 against the Phoenix Suns.
Minnesota is a -500 favorite to advance to the second round of the NBA playoff bracket. The Timberwolves have never lost a best-of-seven series after taking a 3-1 lead.
