It’s just about do or die for the St Louis Blues, who return home facing a 2-0 series deficit to the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday night. The Jets, who won the President’s Trophy as the league’s best regular-season team, had the best road record in the NHL this season, going a stellar 26-15-0. Action gets underway at 9:30pm ET from the Enterprise Center in St Louis, with ESPN2 carrying the broadcast.

The Blues find themselves as the home underdog, getting +100 odds on the moneyline. Betting on the upset would deliver a nice $100 profit for a $100 wager. It will cost slightly more to net $100 if you bet the Jets, who are set at -120 odds. The total is set at 5.0 goals, with the teams going Under in Game 2.

These two teams are on opposite sides of the spectrum when it comes to the Stanley Cup odds. Despite their top spot in the league standings Winnipeg is still a “prove it” title bet, checking in at +750, tied for the third-best. St Louis, meanwhile, is 15th, with only New Jersey having lower odds than they, sitting at +12500 to win it all.

Blues Seek Bounce Back

St Louis didn’t get blown out of the building in Winnipeg, but they still didn’t do enough to get on the board in this series.

The Blues hope a change of venue can shake up a series.

They’ve been dynamite at the Enterprise Center, as they ended the year on an NHL-best 12-game winning streak on home ice.

During that time, they led the NHL in scoring at 4.75 goals per game, and ranked Top 5 in goals against at 1.83.

The Blues’ offense has scored four goals over the first two games in this series, and was held to a single goal on 22 shots in Game 2, failing to tally past Connor Hellebuyck after Jimmy Snuggerud’s power play goal in the dying seconds of the first period.

The last time St Louis dropped a game at home was on Feb 22 – to the Winnipeg Jets.

Jets Try to Build On Lead

Winnipeg might be the President’s Trophy winner, but they’re far from familiar territory: this is the first time since 2021 they’ve been positioned in a 2-0 series lead.

They continue to work over the Blues, though, with four straight wins and eight over the last nine head-to-head meetings.

Up front, the stars have led the way offensively, with Mark Scheifele currently leading the playoffs with a pair of goals and five points, and Kyle Connor with two goals and four points.

The Jets got the type of performance they’d seen all season from Connor Hellebuyck, who turned away 21 of 22 shots. That was a big bounce back from the series opener, when his teammates outscored his so-so performance, when he allowed three goals on just 17 shots.

Jets vs Blues Prediction

I think the 2-0 series lead will allow the Jets to settle into their game early and withstand whatever the Blues throw at them early.

While St Louis has had great success at home of late, the Jets have won three straight at that rink, holding the Blues to an average of 2.33 goals per game.

If Hellebuyck lives up to his Vezina-level performance of the regular season, the Jets should take a stranglehold of this series.
