  • We’re looking at a little, tiny, baby MLB slate for Thursday, April 24
  • There are 10 games, but they are spread out across a day and night slate
  • See below for my +12259 home run parlay for Thursday

We were right there yesterday! One guy away from cashing our three-legger. After Byron Buxton and Corbin Carroll hit their dingers, it all came down to Tyler Soderstrom. He tried his best, hitting a ball 102 mph that traveled 376 feet, but it wasn’t enough to clear the fence. It is what it is. Still, thanks to the fact that we’re playing the “Big 3” straight every day, we stuffed a little cash in our pockets. That’s all we’re trying to do in this game we play, and even though we have a super short slate today, I think it’s possible we complete our mission again. Feels right.

Just a reminder, we’re betting each guy straight for a 1/4 unit as well as parlaying all three for a 1/4 unit.

Thursday HR Parlay Leg #1 – Corbin Carroll to Hit a Home Run

I can hear the haters now, “Slop, Corbin just hit two home runs last night, so there’s no way he’s hitting one tonight.” Honestly, that might be the dumbest take on home runs a person could possibly have. If anything, Corbin hitting multiple dingers last night makes me even more interested in him today. Dingers come in waves, people. Everyone knows that.

For Corbin, they come against guys who throw a lot of fastballs.

Cutter100%57%
Four-seam Fastball94%38%

The only thing standing in Corbin’s way tonight is Drew Rassussen. That guy really doesn’t give up home runs, but he does throw a ton of fastballs, and that is what we are looking for in Corbin’s matchups. Carroll absolutely demolishes basically any type of fastball, as the chart above shows. The clincher is, even if Corbin can’t get to Rasmussen (he can), he’ll get a look at Tampa’s bullpen, which boasts the second-highest barrel rate in MLB over the last two weeks. Feels right.

Thursday HR Parlay Leg #2 – Lawrence Butler to Hit a Home Run

Here we go again with another guy who is red-hot at the plate. This one is Lawrence Butler, and he’s hit home runs in each of the last two games. I get that scares people off, but think back to last August. This guy had a run where he hit six home runs in five games. If he sees guys with pitch mixes that he likes, he slaps them around.

From the looks of it, Jacob deGrom has a pitch mix Butler likes.

People get scared of deGrom because of his name, but he’s looking more and more like a dinger enthusiast with every start. So far this season, he’s given up five home runs in just 21 innings of work. It gets worse, too. All five pimp jobs were to left-handed batters. He’s only thrown to 50 of them, and 10% have ended up jogging around the bases. Feels easy.

Thursday HR Parlay Leg #3 – Tyler Soderstrom to Hit a Home Run

I know it’s tough to go right back to the man that let us down last night, but that’s what we’re doing. That’s what the Circle of Trust is all about. Even though Tyler Soderstrom didn’t come through for us last night, he still hit a ball 102 mph that landed 376 feet away from home plate. That has to count for something.

What’s even better is, given the pitch mix he’ll see tonight, he could hit one way further than 376 feet.

PitchSoderstrom Barrel Rate vs Pitch (2025)deGrom ISO on pitch to LHB (2024)
Four-seam Fastball23%.789
Slider25%.118

We already talked about deGrom, but it can’t be overstated how well lefties have done against him so far this season. Especially against his four-seam fastball. That’s huge because Soderbomb has an 86% hard hit rate against that pitch from righties to go along with his 23% barrel rate. I’d be shocked if he doesn’t put one in the seats in his first at-bat. Maybe sooner. Feels easy.
