  • The NBA Play-In Tournament is back in action on Friday, April 18
  • We’ll start the night with the Miami Heat vs the Atlanta Hawks and finish with the Dallas Mavericks vs the Memphis Grizzlies
  • See below for my two-leg, +241 NBA Play-In parlay tonight

The 2025 NBA Playoff picture will be complete after tonight, and I, for one, couldn’t be happier. The NBA Playoffs are a great way to stuff cash in our pockets if we just pay attention. NBA betting is far different when all the chips are on the table, and we’ll get a glimpse of that tonight. First, we’ll get a look at the Miami Heat and Atlanta Hawks. When they’re finished, it’ll be the Dallas Mavericks and Memphis Grizzlies getting it on. The smartest thing we can do at this point is find a bet for both games, then parlay them together. It’ll carry us through the entire night and pay us handsomely when it cashes. Feels right.

Friday NBA Parlay Leg #1 – Tyler Herro Over 5.5 Points in 1st Quarter

The NBA Playoffs are all about the stars. We’re talking alpha time. Every team is full of guys playing roles, and the role we’re looking for Friday night is the Miami Heat’s “scorer” role. That role belongs to Tyler Herro and it should be obvious from the opening tip-off Friday night.

The only thing left for us to do is find the best price for his first-quarter points prop.

First Quarter PointsFanDuelDraftKingsESPN
Tyler Herro (Heat)5.5 (Ov -132 / Un +100)7.5 (Ov +110 / Un -140)6.5 (Ov +100 / Un -130)

In the Heat’s first “do or die” game against the Chicago Bulls, it was very clear that the Heat will only go as far as Tyler Herro will take them. The guy had 16 points in the first quarter on his way to 38 for the game. The haters are going to say that he made every shot he took in the first quarter, which is true, but he also took seven shots, which is more than enough volume.

Herro and the Heat will get another up-and-down team in the Atlanta Hawks, which works in our favor. On the season, they tied for the second-fastest pace in the NBA (with the Chicago Bulls), so we should get plenty of possessions early. Just last month, Herro torched these guys for 36 points, including seven in the first quarter. We only need six. Feels easy.

Friday NBA Parlay Leg #2 – Anthony Davis Over 27.5 Points

Another superstar in action Friday night is the Dallas Mavericks’ Anthony Davis. Lucky him, he gets the added pressure of being the guy the Mavericks traded Luka Doncic for, so there’s that too. There’s nothing like playoff motivation, but this is that times 1000. Davis literally has to show up tonight.

The smartest thing we can do at this point is find the best price on his points total.

Player PointsFanDuelCaesarsFanatics
Anthony Davis (Mavericks)27.5 ( Ov -106 / Un -125)27.5 (Ov -121 / -113)27.5 (Ov -125 / -105)

The thing with Davis is, the Mavericks like him for his defense. It’s the whole reason they made the trade to begin with. But as fate would have it, Kyrie Irving got hurt, so now Davis has to shoulder the scoring load too. What a mess.

There is some cause for optimism, though. How about the fact that Davis can score? The last time he played the Memphis Grizzlies, he hung a 40-burger on them. It was when he was with the Los Angeles Lakers, but still. He’s playing the power forward position now, and no team in the NBA has allowed more points to that position over the last seven games than Memphis. We’re talking 32 per game. We only need 28. Feels easy.
