Jim Brown is the only NFL player to win MVP during his rookie year, coming back in 1957. So for Mayfield to win it, he’d be duplicating a feat only accomplished by one of the greatest of all-time.

But hey, Mayfield got the Browns their first win in 635 days and was also the man to bring Cleveland fans free beer. So miracles can happen!

Baker vs Mahomes II in Week 9

After Kansas City’s 3-0 start, Chiefs’ QB Patrick Mahomes is favored to win NFL MVP honors at +300.

A Week 9 matchup between the Browns and Chiefs could heavily impact the MVP odds.

But so could the other 13 weeks still to be played …

If nothing else, it could be a game of the year if it’s anything like the 66-59 Oklahoma win Mayfield led Oklahoma to over Mahomes and Texas Tech when these two last met in college.

Does Watson Have any Value for NFL MVP?

Deshaun Watson has taken a much different path to those +5000 odds.

Watson showed flashes of being the QB the Texans have been waiting years for before tearing his ACL last year. Now healed and part of a Texans’ team with a star-studded defense, expectations were high in Houston.

However, Watson has yet to look like his old self since returning from injury. The Texans’ offensive line hasn’t done him any favors either, as Watson is one of the league’s most sacked quarterbacks.

The Texans are now 0-3 straight up and ATS. Being winless after three weeks severely hinders their playoff and similarly Watson’s MVP chances.

Where is the Real Value in NFL MVP Betting?

If you’re a fan of one of these teams – Cleveland and/or Houston – and want to be holding a ticket on these guys for entertainment purposes, I get it.

But you’d be going against some pretty hefty historical trends. You could find better value with either team by heading over to Super Bowl 53 odds.
