- The Edmonton Oilers are a -112 moneyline favorite over the Los Angeles Kings on ESPN+ Monday
- Both squads are still jockeying for position to see who gets the second seed in the Pacific Division

Two teams that are very familiar with each other square off in Edmonton Monday, as the Oilers host the Kings. For the fourth straight season, it’s confirmed that these two Pacific Division rivals will square off in the playoffs. Which team that has home ice advantage is still up for grabs. Edmonton is one of the favorites in the 2025 Stanley Cup odds, while LA isn’t quite as favored to win it all in 2025.
The Kings (46-24-9, 101 points, 2nd in Pacific) visit the Oilers (47-28-5, 99 points, 3rd in Pacific) at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta. Online sportsbooks are installing the home squad as a slight favorite in the NHL odds, in what will be their final meeting before the postseason.
Puck drop is scheduled for 10:00pm ET/7pm PT, with ESPN+/NHL Network providing the broadcast coverage in the United States along with Amazon Prime.
Kings vs Oilers Prediction
- Under 5.5 goals (-110) on DraftKings
The Los Angeles Kings have been on an extended heater, racking up 15 victories in their last 19 contests. They’ve been especially great at keeping the puck out of their own net, allowing two or fewer goals in 15 of the last 20 outings.
Their fantastic stretch has allowed them to surpass the Oilers for second in the Pacific, which is massive, because they’ll have home ice advantage over their counterparts as they meet for the fourth straight postseason. The three previous instances has resulted in playoff disappointments, so perhaps the Kings can exorcise their demons with home ice.
Goaltender Darcy Kuemper has been outstanding, ranking second in GAA (2.05) and third in save percentage (.921) among qualified goaltenders. Saturday against Colorado was the first time in his last 16 starts he surrendered more than two goals, but the Kings still wound up winning.
Edmonton closes in on the playoffs having finished strong, taking six of their last eight, though one of those losses was 3-0 to the Kings early in April. They’ve scored four goals in winning three straight, and the other three triumphs saw them potting three markers. After missing eight games due to injury, captain Connor McDavid has returned guns ablazing, racking up nine assists in three contests, all victories.
On the campaign, the Oilers slightly edge out the Kings in goal scoring (11th to 15th), but LA is far superior in goals allowed per outing, ranking second, compared to their counterparts, who are 14th.
Los Angeles Kings vs Edmonton Oilers Odds
The Kings vs Oilers odds show a total of 5.5 goals and Edmonton is listed as a -112 moneyline favorite, but are +225 underdogs to cover the puck line of 1.5 goals. The -112 odds on the moneyline represents a win probability of 52.83% for Edmonton.
Our SBD model believes it’ll shape up to be a 3.29-3.07 battle, won by the Kings, according to the formula. It has LA covering the +1.5 spread, and it going over 5.5 goals.

The Kings haven’t had Norris Trophy-winning blueliner Drew Doughty (ankle) and fellow blueliner Joel Edmundson the last three games. Forward Tanner Jeannot is out week-to-week, and hasn’t suited up since March 25th.
Edmonton has a laundry list of players who likely won’t be playing, from NHL goal leader Leon Draisaitl missing the last five battles and defenseman Mattias Ekholm expected to be done for the season. It doesn’t end there – Ryan Nugent-Hopkins has been out for three with an illness, Jake Walman also missing the same length, and Zach Hyman (undisclosed) not playing Saturday. They’ve only had the services of forward Trent Frederic for one outing, since acquiring him from the Bruins.
The starting goalies haven’t been confirmed, so there’s a chance the Kings will rest their stud netminder in Darcy Kuemper. Stuart Skinner laced them up Sunday against Winnipeg, so likely Calvin Pickard will be between the pipes vs LA. He’s been stout, letting just two pucks go by him in eight of his last eleven starts. In nine of their last twelve regular season duels, there has been less than six combined goals scored. With both keepers strong of late, and several key players out, I’m selecting the under goal total for this affair.
