  • NASCAR Goodyear 400 takes the green flag this Sunday from the Darlington Raceway in Darlington, South Carolina.
  • William Byron blazed a trail for the pole. Can he win again on the track too tough to tame?
  • Below, look at our NASCAR Goodyear 400 odds, predictions, and some best bets.

The NASCAR Cup Series slides back down the East Coast for the eighth points event this Sunday, April 6th, with the NASCAR Goodyear 400. The green flag drops just after 3:00 pm EDT, with live coverage via the Fox Network.

The superspeedway at Darlington is a 1.366 mile track. Unlike Martinsville, Darlington has turns banked at 23-25 degrees. Drivers joke that the track feels like a fast centrifuge. Now, the stage setup is 90-95-108. Collectors often happen on this track, referring to larger scale accidents with a hard pace as laps average between 28 and 29 seconds typically.

Let us roll into those NASCAR odds, predictions, and best bets, as we make our Goodyear 400 picks.

NASCAR Goodyear 400 Predictions

It has been incredible how good the weather again has been for NASCAR in 2025. Sunday afternoon is no exception. There will be Partly to Mostly Cloudy conditions, with temperatures around 85 degrees. Breezy winds from the Southwest will help keep fans from getting too hot.

Qualifying almost became a little too predictable until William Byron toasted the field with a time of 28.774 seconds. That wound up being good enough for the pole. Byron, the 2023 winner, knows what it takes to survive and thrive on this track.

Honestly, so many drivers could win on this track. It feels like a bit of survival of the fittest out there. Unlike Martinsville, Darlington features more passing but more risk, too. Last year’s race had a lower than usual six cautions for 38 laps. There were 16 lead changes among 10 drivers, though. Typicall,y there are 8-10 cautions in this Spring race.

The “Lady In Black” has featured a ton of memorable wrecks through the years but has also produced plenty of dramatic results. William Byron won in 2023 in an overtime where he simply pulled away like he did in qualifying on Saturday.

Do we see that again on Sunday?

The hope is Sunday has fewer of those collectors like last year. Remember the longer final stage is 108 laps in all. The laps can tick down out of nowhere for a race that last typically between 3 1/4 and 3 1/2 hours. Last year, Brad Keselowski snuck off with the win despite Tyler Reddick leading the most laps. Does Byron have that car like two years ago? Qualifying and practice suggest yes.

Top NASCAR Best Bets For Darlington

Okay, let’s head down the field a bit for some best bets at the Goodyear 400. Besides, the updated Top 3, Top 5, and Top 10 odds often do not appear until around breakfast on Sunday morning.

Last week proved profitable for myself because of two big results in the Top 3. Ryan Preece is having some kind of season and qualified second ahead of Denny Hamlin. Hamlin won the race last week just ahead of Preece and Bubba Wallace. Wallace qualified fifth just 0.121 seconds back. Many are expecting a bit of a battle between the Toyota’s and Hendrick Chevy’s with perhaps a Ford sneaking in (see Brad Keselowski last year).

Driver props will be intriguing for this April race which will feel a lot like May (when it has been held since COVID).

How about Preece or even Josh Berry? Berry was second in practice but Preece was turned in faster and faster laps. If there is an upset, Preece at +2200 will be attractive from a Top 5 and Top 10 standpoint. Berry is the same. With tire wear like it is, do not be surprised if Preece and Berry figure into the result somehow.
