Michigan State vs Auburn Prediction
- Michigan State +4.5 (-105)
After two relatively easy games in this tournament, where Michigan State won by 25 and eight points, respectively, their Sweet 16 matchup versus Ole Miss was stressful. They were down in the second half but rallied to defeat Ole Miss behind a team-high 20 points by Jase Richardson. He also grabbed six rebounds, all of which were defensive.
Senior guard Jaden Atkins leads the team with an average of 12.8 points per game, and he’s been consistent in the tournament, scoring 11, 16 and 13 points in the three contests.
Auburn also faced a stiff test in the Sweet 16, as they were down by eight in the second half, before going on an 18-3 tear to take control of the game, where they eventually won by 13.
Senior forward Johni Broome was a man possessed in that contest, putting up game-highs in points (22) and rebounds (16). This after putting up 22 points in the first two games of the tournament, though he did grab 23 boards in those duels. He’s the second favorite in the March Madness MVP odds race, behind only Cooper Flagg.
In the March Madness champion odds, Auburn is the +550 third choice to win it all on DraftKings, while Michigan State are +2500 longshots.
The winner gets a date in the Final Four, and just like the SBD model has this a close two-point affair, I too believe it’ll wind up very close. Michigan State is 6-1-1 as the underdog against the spread this season, while Auburn is just 17-15-1 ATS as the favorite.
