It’s the top team in the East hosting a team no one wants to see in the playoffs in the West, when the LA Clippers (42-31, 17-20 away) visit the Cleveland Cavaliers (59-15, 31-5 home) in a Sunday matinee. Cleveland is the lone team in the East to hit the 30-win plateau at home.

Action gets underway from Rocket Arena in Cleveland beginning at 3:30 pm ET. Cleveland’s stellar home play and the Clippers playing without one of their stars make the Cavaliers the betting favorite in the NBA odds.

Perhaps the biggest injury news is Clippers star Kawhi Leonard is forced to miss this one with a knee injury. Leonard was coming off his top scoring game this season lighting Brooklyn up for 31 points, with six rebounds and four steals. He had scored at least 23 points in eight straight games. Jordan Miller (hamstring) has also been ruled out.

It’s a little lighter IL for the Cavaliers, who won’t have the services of reserves Jaylon Tyson (knee) and guard Ty Jerome (knee)

NBA player props from DraftKings on March 30.

With Kawhi down, the scoring load shifts to James Harden, who has the highest scoring prop for LA at 24.5 points, with Norman Powell behind him at 20.5. Harden has scored 25 or more points in eight of his last 12 starts. It’s been a different story for Powell, who’s struggled since returning from injury, going Under his total in six straight games.

Donovan Mitchell is the high-scoring prop man in the game at 25.5, but he’s only topped this figure twice in his last nine outings. He and Harden are tied for the most 3-point makes total, at 3.5.

Only Clippers’ big Ivica Zubac has a double-digit rebounding line, as Cleveland’s Evan Mobley (9.5) and Jarrett Allen (8.5) are the next closest.

Los Angeles Clippers vs Cleveland Cavaliers Picks

  • Clippers vs Cavaliers pick: Cavaliers -7.5 (-108)
  • Clippers vs Cavaliers prop bet: Harden Under 24.5 points (-115)

The Clippers have been giving a sample of what they should look like whole, going 10-2 since March 5.

Of course, that coincides with Leonard’s return to the lineup, as he’s played seven straight games – his longest run of the season – which will come to an end Sunday with injury management to his right knee.

When Leonard is on the court, the Clippers are mean, as the pieces slide more seamlessly into place: Norm Powell is a second-scoring assassin, James Harden is a setup man extraordinaire that can get buckets in a crunch, and Ivica Zubac does all the heavy lifting inside. They’ve crushed New York and Brooklyn by double digits to kick off this road trip.

This version of the Clippers has averaged a whopping 123.3 points per game over the last seven, the third-highest scoring team in the league. Couple that with a defense that ranks second in points, a meagre 104.1 per contest, and you’ve got the makings of a wild card contender in the West.

However, Leonard’s health looms above all, and makes it hard for them to jump into the upper tier of teams in the 2025 NBA Championship odds.

That’s where the Cavaliers operate, as they close in on the top seed in the Eastern Conference. They did drop their last game, a 133-133 decision to the Detroit Pistons, but there’s no worry in the Land.

Cleveland owns the top scoring offense in the NBA, putting up 122.3 points per game, tied for the league lead in 3-point shooting (38.4%) and second in field goal percentage at 49.2%.

That’s plenty of firepower to support a defense that ranks 10th in points at 112.2 per contest, while ranking Top 3 in field goal defense, limiting opponents to 45.4% shooting.

The Cavs haven’t been a great wager of late, going just 3-7-0 against the spread in their last 10. Included in that is a 132-119 whipping at the hands of these very same Clippers on March 18.

With a complete roster, I think the Clips can line up against almost any team in the NBA, including the Cavaliers. But without Kawhi, LA loses its advantage of being probably more gifted up top, while Cleveland capitalizes on a deep and coherent roster.
