  • Opening Day of the 2025 MLB Season is Thursday, March 27, 2025
  • Opening Day means Opening Day Strikeout Parlays since all of the aces are pitching
  • See below for my +401 Opening Day Parlay for Opening Day

Opening Day of last year was a movie. I threw together a little, three-leg +92971 strikeout parlay and it hit. We all remember it. It was glorious. Fast forward to this season and it’s obvious we need more strikeout parlays. The bad news is, I haven’t seen an opportunity to toss out a three-legger like last year. But the good news is, I may have stumbled upon the greatest two-legger modern man has ever seen. If we’re being honest, I can’t believe the books would even let us bet this. It’s almost like they want us to stuff a bunch of cash in our pockets on Opening Day again. Feels good.

MLB Opening Day Parlay Leg #1 – Paul Skenes Mows Them Down

Opening Day is all about aces. Theoretically speaking, we get to see every single team’s best pitcher on Opening Day. What that means for the Pittsburgh Pirates is, we’re looking at Paul Skenes.

This guy isn’t just striking guys out for us gamblers, he’s doing it for the entire city of Pittsburgh.

A lot of guys say that we should avoid pitchers on Opening Day because of workload. Maybe some, but definitely not all. Take Skenes for example, in one of his last starts of the spring, he mowed down seven Minnesota Twins on 85 pitches. Simply put, he should be out there long enough for us to get home on 8+.

Opponent matters when we’re talking Ks and Skenes has a good one in the Miami Marlins. These guys fanned 283 times in the spring and although some of those Ks aren’t on the roster anymore, most of them are. And the ones that are, will have big trouble with Paul Skenes’ four-seamer. But that”s not all, by my count, there is only one guy in the lineup that can hit a slider. Translation, Paul Skenes is fanning at least eight Marlins on Thursday.

MLB Opening Day Parlay Leg #2 – Hunter Greene Sits Guys Down

At the same time we’re watching Paul Skenes do his thing, we’ll be watching Hunter Greene do his. Greene has been an ascending talent for years now but if we’re being honest, I don’t think we’ve seen the best version of him. The guy is only 25 so it makes sense.

The thing I like about him is his stuff is off the charts good.

Obviously workload is an issue early on but it’s unlikely it will be for Greene. For starters, he threw 100 pitches in his first start last season. He’s a horse. We can expect more of the same this time around considering he threw 84 pitches in his final spring start. He fanned seven Seattle Mariners that day which is also nice to see.

But at the end of the day, strikeouts come down to opponent and Greene has a great matchup with the San Francisco Giants. They whiffed fifth most in MLB during the spring and have multiple guys who struggle with the fastball. On top of that, there’s like seven of them that can’t hit a slider which will be trouble against a guy like Greene. He could have this by the second inning. Maybe sooner. Feels right.

  • The Bet: Hunter Greene 7+ Ks (+116) – FanDuel
