Two teams with eyes on the ultimate prize, the 2025 Stanley Cup, do battle in Oil Country as the Stars renew hostilities with the Oilers.

The Dallas Stars (45-21-4, 94 points, 2nd in Central) visit the Edmonton Oilers (41-24-5, 87 points, 3rd in Pacific) at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta. Online sportsbooks are bullish on the Stars in the NHL odds, installing them as favorites.

Puck drop is scheduled for 10:00pm ET, with TNT/truTV/Max providing the broadcast coverage in the United States and Rogers Sportsnet in Canada.

Stars vs Oilers Prediction

  • Oilers Moneyline +130 on DraftKings

I love the opportunity to wager on a home team that is one of the favorites in the Stanley Cup odds as an underdog. The Oilers have been a better team on home ice this year, and the Stars haven’t been particularly fantastic on the road (18-14-2, compared to 27-7-2 at home).

Edmonton has gone 4-0-1 in their last five home contests, while the Stars have dropped four of five away from the Lone Star State. One of those defeats came in Edmonton on March 8th, with the Oilers taking it 5-4.

If you’re interested on a wager for the 6.5 goal total, take note – on the campaign, the under goal total has gone 35-19-3 with Dallas as a favorite and 8-3 with the Oilers as an underdog. Of course, the latest meeting ended with a total of nine goals, so there’s definitely some risk involved with this bet.

Both teams are pretty evenly matched on the season, with Dallas seven points ahead of Edmonton. The Stars average the sixth most goals per contest (3.36) compared to the Oilers, who are seventh (3.27). Dallas has the edge in goal, with the fourth best GAA in the league, contrasted by 14th for their counterparts.

Big D is tops in the NHL on the penalty kill, which could thwart the Oilers sixth ranked power play. Both units have points in five straight contests, with four Dallas games ending in a one-goal margin, and three have featured the same thing for Edmonton.

These squads have been very evenly matched, with both winning four meetings each in their last eight tilts. The -155 odds on the moneyline represents a win probability of 60.78% for Big D. Our SBD model believes it’ll be a close battle, with it shaping up to be a 3.47-3.17 battle, won by Dallas, according to the formula.

That goes against my selection, but I can’t go with the grain all the time, so let’s ride with a big Oilers victory at juicy +130 odds! After all, the favorites aren’t especially great on the road and haven’t been as of late.
