Bet365 Launch Months in the Making

All eyes have been on bet365 since December 2024, when it was announced the Illinois Gaming Control Board approved the operator for a management service provider license. Through a partnership with Walker’s Bluff Casino Resort, the operator can offer both online and retail sports betting in the Prairie State.

Walker’s Bluff Casino Resort was also granted a master sports betting license. The Illinois sports betting market currently has nine live online sports betting operators.

Bet365 finds itself now in one of the most active and profitable betting markets in the entire county. In 2024, Illinois online sports betting accounted for more than $13.5 billion in handle. It also could open up its online casino in the state, if current Illinois online casino legislation makes it all the way to becoming law.

The sports betting operator will also begin operations in Tennessee, a market that has seen sharp numbers since launching in November 2020. Tennessee is one of the only states in the country to only allow online sports betting with no retail sports betting component in its borders.

The sports betting operator was approved for a Tennessee sports betting license on Feb. 11. The Tennessee Sports Wagering Council lists bet365 as one of 13 approved sports betting operators in the Volunteer State.

In the first two months of 2025, Tennessee sports betting have wagered nearly $1 billion in online bets and the state has take in more than $17.6 million in sports betting tax revenues over the course of those months.

Just In Time for March Madness Tournament

While bet365 kept its launch plans for both states away from the public eye, it was assumed the operator would try to be and up running in both prior to the start of the NCAA March Madness tournaments.

David Smith, director of engagement for the Tennessee Sports Wagering Council, told Sports Betting Dime that upon license approval a bet365 representative told the council the company hoped to launch in the state prior to the start of the tournament.

The tournament begins on Tuesday, March 18. You can go and a claim a bet365 bonus code for the tournament (among other sports) right now.
