The Phoenix Suns (28-32, 21-38-1 ATS) host the Minnesota Timberwolves (32-29, 26-34-1 ATS) on Sunday night in a game of franchises with some off-the-court troubles. After sitting out Friday against Utah for getting his 16th technical foul of the season, star guard Anthony Edwards is a game-time decision with a calf injury. Edwards remains one of the elite scorers in the NBA — when not getting T’d up — at 27.3 points a game. Keep reading for my Timberwolves vs Suns prediction, pick and insights on the best value odds.
Timberwolves vs Suns Odds
Phoenix is anywhere from a 1.5 to 2.5-point favorite on the books. The over/under is 231.5 at most sportsbooks but 230.5 at BetMGM. I see the best moneyline value on Minnesota is +120 at Bet365 and -130 on the Suns at Caesars and FanDuel.

Both teams are trending over (which is why this number is so high). Four of Minnesota’s last five have gone over, and so have the last four Phoenix games. In other words, defense isn’t what these two teams like.
Minnesota has won the last six meetings between these two teams, including a first-round sweep in the playoffs in 2024. In those six games, the Wolves have covered the spread five times.
However, Minnesota is slow on the spread lately. The Wolves are 1-4 against the number in their last five games. Phoenix is 2-4 in its last six against the spread.
T-wolves vs Suns Prediction
These two teams are just a mess. The Timberwolves were supposed to take the leap into the NBA elite this year after their run in the playoffs and it hasn’t happened. I think they got a taste of success and they now think they can just turn it on when they want to. Edwards doesn’t come off competitive now, he comes off as selfish.
Speaking of selfish, hello Phoenix Suns. Did you know the Suns have the highest payroll in the NBA? That will get maybe in the Play-In. They benched Bradley Beal, then didn’t. Devin Booker is going scorched Earth. Its clear as day these guys don’t like one another. I like taking the Wolves and the points here.
Timberwolves vs Suns Picks
- Timberwolves +2.5 at BetMGM (-115)
- Over 231.5 at BetMGM (-110)
It’s hard to dismiss the over trend for both teams going on right now. When teams aren’t in sync, the first thing to go is defense. These are two teams without much pride in defense. They both seem to like to get ‘mine’ and move on. I know Edwards is questionable, but I think he will play.
Minnesota has 16 wins at home and 16 wins on the road. They shoot a lot of threes. I know the NBA is a three league now, but Minnesota shoots 40 a game and they make 37 percent. Aside from Edwards being questionable, Minnesota is also without Julius Randle and Rudy Gobert. They’re 1-4 since the All-Star break.
Phoenix has lost 10 of its last 13 games. Beal is also listed as questionable as of this writing with a calk injury. They shoot just as many threes as the Wolves, but make slightly more, but they rank almost last in the NBA in rebounds (another sign that the effort isn’t there). Kevin Durant leads the Suns with 26.7 points a game, slightly more than Booker.
