The Atlantic Division-leading Toronto Maple Leafs (38-20-2) will seek a sixth straight win when they host the NHL’s worst team, the San Jose Sharks (15-37-9).
Action gets underway from Scotiabank Arena in Toronto at 7:30pm ET, with national coverage provided by ESPN+. Amazon will carry the game in Canada.
The Sharks — the only team in the league yet to cross 40 points — have been tabbed as distant +290 underdogs on the moneyline, with the Leafs are a short -370, while the over/under is set at 6.5 goals. Can the Leafs extend San Jose’s misery, while keeping ahead of the both Panthers and Lightning in the Atlantic?

Sharks vs Maple Leafs Prediction
There’s been no team hotter in hockey over the last 10 days than Toronto, who have the most wins (5) and are averaging a whopping five goals per game. Just once during this streak have they failed to tough the five-goal plateau.
That’s in complete contrast to the Sharks, who haven’t won since beating Pittsburgh 2-1 on January 27. It’s their only win since January 16, a span of 15 games.
The numbers aren’t pretty: over that stretch, the Sharks have allowed a league-worst 4.60 goals per game, while scoring the fourth-fewest at 2.47 per contest.
If there is the possibility of an upset, it would be that Toronto is playing the second night of a back-to-back, and their third over the last four days.
They did go to OT Sunday, outlasting the Penguins 6-5, with William Nylander playing hero just a minute into the extra period.
But the Leafs have held their own on that second consecutive night, going 6-4-1 in 11 contests.
They’ve also dominated the Sharks of late, winning three straight and seven of 10 overall. Toronto has won each of their games by at least two goals.
The Sharks are four games into their lengthy 7-game trek with just two points and no wins to show for it, last losing 5-3 to the Ottawa Senators Saturday night.
While their three previous games were all decided by a goal, Toronto is cruising right now, and a two-goal win shouldn’t be a problem, even on a back-to-back.

Toronto is such a heavy favorite in the moneyline at -370, you would need to place a wager of $370 just to gain a profit of $100. Subsequently, picking a Sharks upset would net a nice $290 on a $100 bet.
If you’re playing the puck line, Toronto is listed at -1.5 (-140), while the Sharks are in at +1.5 (+120). Taking the Buds to win by at least two goals is more risky, but offers a substantially better return vs the moneyline. Taking the San Jose puck line would get you a win if the Sharks could lose by only a goal or win outright.
The total (over/under) for this game is set at 5.5 goals, paying at -140 for the Over, and +120 for the Under. Mitch Marner – Anytime Goalscorer (+160 at Bet365)
You can’t go wrong with taking any of Toronto’s top guns. Nylander (+115) is coming off a GWG, while Auston Matthews (-120), got on the board against the Penguins, breaking a 3-game goalless drought.
But the best value of the bunch is just slightly down the board with Mitch Marner. The Leafs’ centre has been had points in three straight games, including two goals in an OT win over Boston.
Marner has also lit the Sharks on fire. He has lit the lamp in four straight against San Jose, totaling five goals.
In his most recent matchup vs San Jose on January 9, 2024, Marner put up two goals and two assists, the best performance against the Sharks in his career.
He has had a point in 10 of the last 11 games against San Jose, and should be a prominent figure Monday night.
