The Detroit Pistons (31-26, 14-13 home, 31-24-2 ATS) are quietly the second-hottest team in the NBA, carrying a six-game win streak into Monday night’s tilt with the LA Clippers (31-25, 12-15 away, 32-24 ATS) at Little Caesars Arena at 7:10 pm ET. Though the Clippers have lost two in a row, they are nonetheless slight road favorites in Monday’s NBA odds.

The Pistons haven’t just won six in a row straight-up, they’ve also covered each of their last four games and six of their last seven, and now sit seventh in the NBA in cover percentage (56.4%). The Clippers are the team directly above Detroit (57.1% ATS cover rate) but they have lost three in a row against the number (in addition to two in a row straight-up) and only covered three of their last ten games.

Both teams are playing the tail end of a back-to-back but Detroit is in better shape, injury-wise. The Clippers were without Norman Powell (knee), Kawhi Leonard (foot), and Ben Simmons (load management) in Sunday’s loss at Indiana (129-111). Cade Cunningham has been exceptional after the All-Star break. He had 25 points, 12 assists, two steals, and one rebound in a 125-110 rout of San Antonio on Friday, and followed that up with 38 points, 12 assists, seven rebounds, and three blocks in yesterday’s 148-143 victory at Atlanta.

While he’s not a seriously challenger to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Nikola Jokic in the NBA MVP odds, he is the fifth-favorite at a distant +40000.

Cunningham (25.7 PPG, 6.3 RPG, 9.5 APG) has, by a wide margin, the highest point total of the night at 27.5. On the Clippers’ side, Harden (21.7 PPG, 5.8 RPG, 8.6 APG) and Powell (24.2 PPG, 3.6 RPG, 2.2 APG) are both at 22.5, followed closely by Leonard (16.9 PPG, 4.6 RPG, 2.8 APG).
