Eagles Dominate En Route to Second Super Bowl Appearance in Three Years

The Eagles put on a ground-game masterclass on their way to the NFC Championship. After putting up 169 rushing yards in a 22-10 victory over Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card Round, Philly racked up 285 yards on the ground in a 28-22 win over the LA Rams in the Divisional Round.

Saquon Barkley set a franchise postseason record with 205 yards on the ground on his own.

In the NFC Championship Game against Washington, Barkley added another 118 yards and three touchdowns, which included an electric 60-yard TD run on Philly’s first play from scrimmage. As a team, the Eagles rushed for 232 yards (and counting, possibly) in the lopsided victory.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts added three rushing TDs of his own, while backup RB Will Shipley had one (yes, that’s seven total rushing touchdowns in the NFC title game). Hurts also threw for 246 yards on a solid 20-of-28 completions. A quartet of Commander turnovers helped Philadelphia run away with the victory over their NFC East rivals. The Eagles haven’t turned the ball over once all postseason.

The Eagles, who lost to the Kansas City Chiefs 38-35 in a thrilling Super Bowl 57, opened at +1800 odds when the 2025 Super Bowl odds first opened last February.

The Eagles didn’t play either the Chiefs or Bills in the 2024 regular season. In the 2023 regular season, they won 21-17 at Kansas City and 37-34 OT at home against Buffalo.

AFC Champion Likely to Be Small Favorite in Super Bowl 59

With the Eagles at +100 ahead of the AFC title game, it’s likely that the opening Super Bowl 59 odds will see Philly listed as a slight underdog, no matter who wins between the Bills and the Chiefs.

The Bills vs Chiefs odds list Kansas City as a slight 1.5 to 2.0-point home favorite. The moneyline, which opened as a veritable pick’em (Chiefs -115/Bills -105), shows KC favored at -125 and the Bills listed as +105 road underdogs minutes before kickoff.

In other words, oddsmakers see the Chiefs and Bills as relative equals. KC is slightly favored because of home-field advantage. It’s likely that the Eagles are going to stay at +100 odds regardless of who wins the Buffalo/Kansas City game, at least until the early betting action moves the spread one way or the other.

The Chiefs, who have won each of the last two Lombardi Trophy, started the season as the +525 favorites to pull off an unprecedented three-peat. They started the playoffs as +360 second-favorites to the Lions, but quickly resumed the mantle of betting favorite when Detroit was knocked out in its first playoff game by Washington.

The Bills were listed at +1650 odds ahead of Week 1 and entered the playoffs as +562 fourth-favorites, behind the Lions, Chiefs, and Ravens.
