The Portland Trail Blazers (14-28, 5-16 away) just ended a five-game losing skid. They’ll try to carry that momentum into South Beach when they visit the Miami Heat (21-20, 11-8 home), who just broke their own 3-game slide. The books aren’t giving the Blazers, who currently sit 13th in the West, much of a shot in this one. This one tips off at 7:30pm ET from the Kaseya Center in Miami.

Trail Blazers vs Heat Odds

Team Spread Moneyline Total
Portland Trail Blazers +10.5 (-110) +425 Over 219.5 (-115)
Miami Heat -10.5 (-110) -588 Under 219.5 (-105)

The Heat are hefty 10.5-point home favorites in the NBA odds, with Portland  a distant +425 underdog on the moneyline. The game total is at 219.5.

Portland comes into this one a little shorthanded. They will be out rookie center Donovan Clingan (ankle) and guard Matisse Thybulle (ankle). Meanwhile, Anfernee Simons (elbow) is listed as questionable – though Bet365 has his props listed below – along with Robert Williams III (ankle) and forward Kris Murray (chest).

The Heat’s only regular out of action is Josh Richardson (heel), but they do still have the lingering Jimmy Butler situation front and center, as Miami works to find a deal to ship out its disgruntled star.

Not a lot of offensive punch on either lineup, as Tyler Herro is the only player on both sides that has a total in the 20s, at 21.5 points. Portland’s Anfernee Simons (17.5) and Deni Avdija (16.5) own the next two highest scoring props.

Portland big man DeAndre Ayton is the closest to a double-digit rebound total, set at 9.5, followed by Miami’s Bam Adebayo at 8.5.

Herro owns the top 3-point makes total at 3.5, while Butler leads all players in the total assists prop, at 4.5.

Trail Blazers vs Heat Predictions

This will be the second and final meeting of the season. Miami went into Portland January 11 and downed the Blazers 119-98, one of the games Butler sat out due a team-imposed suspension. Herro, now firmly Miami’s go-to guy, had a team-high 32 points, including a 7-for-14 night from 3-point range, along with five rebounds and five assists.

The Heat went on to lose the next three, but finally got back in the win column with a 128-107 win over the San Antonio Spurs.

The 128 points was a scoring bonanza for the Heat, who had averaged jus 106.3 points across the previous three losses. On the season, they’re just 20th in scoring at 111.2 points per game.

Thankfully, Miami’s trademark defense still comes through, currently seventh in the league in scoring, giving up 110 points per contest.

Portland is coming off a 113-102 win over the Bulls, salvaging one victory from a 5-game homestand. Offense has been a problem for the Blazers all year, as they’re a Bottom-5 scoring team at 107.8 points per game. Over the last six, they’ve put up just 104.7 per contest. Unlike Miami, they don’t have a defense to support them, allowing 116.7 points per game, with teams shooting 47.9% from the field and 37.8% from 3-point range, both inside the five worst splits in the league.

The Heat have won three straight over Portland and seven of the last eight. Amazingly, they have held the Trail Blazers to under 100 points in six of those contests. With another depleted lineup, look for Miami to put the vice grips on the visitors.

Trail Blazers vs Heat Picks:

  • Trail Blazers Under 103.5 points (+100)
  • Herro Over 21.5 points (-120)
