The hottest team in the NBA, the OKC Thunder (26-5, 13-2 home, 19-11-2 ATS), put their 11-game win streak on the line against the Minnesota Timberwolves (17-14, 8-8 away, 13-18 ATS) on New Year’s Eve at the Paycom Center at 6:10 pm CT/7:10 pm ET. Though Minnesota enters on a three-game win streak of their own, they find themselves sizable underdogs in Tuesday’s NBA odds.
Timberwolves vs Thunder Odds
Team | Spread | Moneyline | Total |
---|---|---|---|
Minnesota Timberwolves | +6.5 (-110) | +220 | O 216.5 (-115) |
OKC Thunder | -6.5 (-110) | -278 | U 216.5 (-105) |
Minnesota is catching 6.5 points in the T-Wolves vs Thunder odds, which is the second-biggest spread the team has faced all season. (Minnesota was an eight-point underdog at Boston). It’s also just the fifth time in 32 games that the Timberwolves have been an underdog at all. So far, Minnesota is 3-1 ATS as the ‘dog and 2-2 straight-up.

The Thunder are -278 on the moneyline with the Timberwolves coming back as +220 road underdogs. The game total is sitting at 216.5 with the over slightly favored at -115.
Minnesota has won three in a row over the Mavericks, Rockets, and Spurs entering play on Tuesday. The Thunder’s 11-game win streak started with a 133-106 win vs Utah on Dec 3 and most-recently featured a 130-106 rout of Memphis on Sunday. Though it should be noted that the Thunder did lose the NBA Cup final to the Bucks (97-89) on Dec. 17, but as that game didn’t count towards the regular-season standings, it didn’t end their official regular-season win streak.

Minnesota Timberwolves vs OKC Thunder Predictions
The last time the Timberwolves were sizable underdogs (Christmas Day in Dallas), I backed Minnesota despite their inconsistent play to date, and it payed off without a sweat as the T-Wolves opened a 17-point halftime lead on the Mavericks. Minnesota’s ceiling is still sky-high and, though they aren’t showing it every night, they are clearly starting to find their footing with Julius Randle.
The Wolves followed up that Christmas victory with a hard-fought road win at the Rockets (113-112) and a narrow home victory over the improving Spurs (112-110). These teams split their four meetings last year with each going 1-1 at home.
I don’t have many negative things to say about the Thunder. They are a legit contender in the NBA championship odds and I expect them to hold their position at the top of the West throughout the season. But Minnesota is capable of beating any team on any court on any night, and their +220 moneyline odds (which carry just a 31.25% implied win probability) underestimate their chance of ending OKC’s win streak.
- MIN vs OKC picks: Timberwolves moneyline +220
- Anthony Edwards over 23.5 points (-110)
