Reliaquest Bowl Opt-Outs

The most notable names to note in the Reliaquest Bowl opt-outs are those of Michigan defensive lineman Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant. The projected first-round NFL Draft picks are the rock of Michigan’s defense and will be missed. Cornerback Will Johnson has missed half the season with injury, so its no surprise to see the Wolverines top cover man also opt-out.

Pass rusher Josaiah Stewart and left tackle Myles Hinton are also expected to sit out as they prepare for the NFL Draft. While Colston Loveland, Donovan Edwards and Kalel Mullings opting-out leaves Michigan without its top-three offensive weapons. Starting safety Rod Moore remains out with an injury.

On the Alabama side, starting linebacker Deonte Lawson and former Michigan defensive back Keon Sabb will sit out with injuries. Notably, running back Justice Haynes and defensive tackle Damon Payne have both transferred to Michigan for next season. Alabama Betting News & Notes

Kalen DeBoer’s Crimson Tide fell out of the CFP after losing three games for the first time since 2010. For that reason, Alabama were the first team left out of the CFP.

However, all of Alabama’s main NFL Draft stars will play on Tuesday. The likes of quarterback Jalen Milroe and projected first-round linebacker Jihaad Campbell have taken up the mantle to end their Alabama tenures in style. The team captains will be looking to continue the standard and ensure Alabama wins 10 games for an impressive 17th straight season.

DeBoer’s offense ran roughshod over the majority of opponents in 2024. The Crimson Tide averaged an elite 0.518 points per play, while putting up 415 yards of offense per game. Defensively, Alabama held opponents to just 18.2 points per game (10th), and 4.8 yards per play (20th).

Alabama finished 7-5 ATS, with a 3-1 record in non-conference games.

Michigan Betting News & Notes

Things looked bleak for first-year coach Sherrone Moore after a 5-5 start in his first year as head coach in Ann Arbor. But, a November to remember that included flipping top-quarterback recruit Bryce Underwood from LSU, defeating the hated Ohio State Buckeyes in an upset for the ages, and signing a top-10 recruiting class has Wolverines fans buzzing.

In the absence of Edwards and Mullings, running back Jordan Marshall, who was Michigan’s top-recruit of the 2024 class will make some noise. That being said, an Alabama front seven that surrendered just 3.9 yards per carry will be a tough nut to crack.

The Wolverines best hope is to follow the Oklahoma gameplan and unleash their rushing attack. On defense, they’ll need to contain Milroe and his playmakers. That will be a tough task with most of their playmakers entering the NFL Draft.

Michigan is 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games against top-25 scoring defenses.

Alabama vs Michigan Prediction – Reliaquest Bowl

Michigan will be fielding mostly backups and untested players against Alabama’s starters. There’s hardly anything to play for, and this Michigan team will look drastically different than the squad that took the field in Columbus. Roll Tide.

Alabama vs Michigan Prediction: Alabama -13.5 (-106)
