  • NFL Week 4 continues with the Chiefs vs Chargers on Sunday afternoon on Sep. 22
  • Kansas City is looking to remain undefeated while Los Angeles tries to score a big AFC West win.
  • Below, see the Chiefs vs Chargers predictions, expert picks, and where to find the best odds

We get a classic AFC West battle on Sunday afternoon. The Baltimore Ravens (0-2, 0-1 away, 0-2 ATS) head to Arlington for a date with the Dallas Cowboys (1-1, 0-1 home, 1-1 ATS) in Week 3. Kickoff is set for 4:25 pm ET at SoFi Stadium.

The Chiefs won another one-possession game in Atlanta last week and the Chiefs vs Chargers odds favor Kansas City to take a two-game lead in the division. The Chiefs are currently 7-point favorites and are as short as -323 on the moneyline, with the total at 39.5.

The Chiefs opened 2024 with one of the higher NFL win totals (double digits again). After three weeks, Kansas City keeps finding ways to win. It may not be pretty but the defending Super Bowl Champions are 3-0. However, they are still a respectable 2-1 ATS. Los Angeles has battled their way to a 2-1 start (also 2-1 ATS).

While some believe that Kansas City could have lost any or all of their first three games, Patrick Mahomes and company did not. That is the bottom line. Even with an off September from Travis Kelce, little has changed for Kansas City. They keep winning even with not the most impressive stats.

The question becomes when does Kansas City’s offense finally start looking like the attack we are accustomed to seeing. If a defense could bring that out, it might just be the Los Angeles Chargers. At least, that is the hope for the sixth-ranked offense in terms of points (25 per game).

The Chargers allowed almost 500 yards last year in that Week 7 contest. One of the biggest debates is that Los Angeles has not faced an offense like the Chiefs (Raiders, Panthers, and Steelers). After that, there is the status of QB Justin Herbert. Herbert has a high-ankle sprain which has bothered him for a few weeks. He tried to play against Pittsburgh last week and Herbert reaggravated the injury. He may be considered a game-time decision with being limited in practice all week.

Los Angeles has given up a mere 33 points but only has scored 58. Now, the Chargers have become kind of a middle-of-the-road offense. This is all while playing a little more intense defensively. Joe Alt and Joey Bosa are definite question marks as well. Bosa has not practiced this week as well. Injuries have truly reared their ugly head when it comes to Los Angeles. It creates a lot of question marks and makes betting a little more of an adventure.

It’s possible the Chargers could bounce back in Week 4 but that depends on Herbert. If he plays, the idea is to go all in on a close game that sees both teams score 20+ points. Again, risking the dollars now in a small way may be the best play for Sunday afternoon.

I expect this is the week we see the Patrick Mahones to Travis Kelce connection to return to some prominence. The expectation is that Los Angeles should just be able to hang in within a score. The Travis Kelce over on receiving yards will be something to keep an eye on along with the Herbert over on yards.

Best Chiefs vs Chargers Odds

Team Spread Moneyline Total
Kansas City Chiefs -7.0 (-115) at Bet365 -323 at DraftKings Over 40 (-110) at DraftKings
Los Angeles Chargers +7.0 (-102) at DraftKings +300 at FanDuel Under 39.5 (-105) at BetMGM

As mentioned, the spread still stands at 7.0. Bet365 and BetMGM currently has the best ATS odds on the Chiefs to cover, listing Kansas City at -7 at -115. The best price on the Chargers is +7.0 (-102) via DraftKings, which bettors can use along with these NFL betting strategies.

DraftKings has the best when it comes to the Over of 40 at -110. If one leans Loa Angeles to win outright, they are +300 at FanDuel currently.

Our picks again for this one are the Chargers at +7.0 via DraftKings and the Over of 40 on DraftKings, too.
