Kentucky Are No Pushovers
These ain’t your dad’s Kentucky Wildcats. Once only a power in basketball, Kentucky is a very competitive football team under head coach Mark Stoops.
The Wildcats have sandwiched blowout wins over Southern Mississippi and Ohio with losses to South Carolina and Georgia respectively. Kentucky actually had Kirby Smart’s Bulldogs on the ropes late in the fourth quarter, and very nearly handed Georgia their first regular season loss since 2020.
Deone Walker’s tape is NIGHTMARE FUEL 🤯

Kentucky’s defense has held opponents to only 12.5 points and 217 offensive yards per contest through four weeks. They’ve also racked up five sacks and 23 hurries. Defensive tackle Deone Walker is a behemoth in the middle of their line. The 6’6, 345-pounder is an immovable object who’s presence can change the game. Ole Miss will be aware of where number 0 is on every snap of the football.
Keep in mind, the college football betting trends don’t favor the Wildcats on Saturday. Kentucky has won just one of their last five meetings against a team with a top-25 scoring defense.
Ole Miss Out to Make the CFB Playoff
Lane Kiffen’s squad are one of the top teams’ in the nation. The Rebels defense is a huge part of that. Ole Miss have allowed just 7.3 yards per game (3rd in the nation), 3.6 yards per play (5th). They’ve held opponents to score on only 50% of red zone opportunities which ranks second in the FBS, and have forced eight turnovers already.
Ole Miss also sports the top overall PFF team grade in the nation at 98.4. They’re also lead the FBS in run defense grade (97), passing grade (92.8), defensive grade (93), and pass rushing grade (89). Kiffen’s beautifully orchestrated offense tops the FBS in yards per game (637.3) and have scored 48 points a night so far.
Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart through four games:
95/119 (79.8%) 1,554 passing yards, 12 TDs, 2 INTs
Lane Kiffin discussed how he’s seen him improve behind the scenes.
“The guy is relentless in his pursuit at being great”

Quarterback Jaxson Dart has been electric in 2024, tossing for 1554 yards and 12 touchdowns with a 79.8 completion percentage. That being said, those statistics have come against Furman, Middle Tennessee State, Wake Forest, and Georgia Southern. Kentucky will be the first real test for the Rebels this season.
On top of all that stats, Kiffen is on quite the hot streak at home, going 6-2-1 ATS in their last nine home contests.
Kentucky vs Ole Miss Picks
Backing Kentucky’s menacing defensive line as a three-possession underdog would be an easy play, but their offense has been less than stellar this season. Georgia transfer Brock Vandagriff has completed under 60% of his passes at only seven yards per attempt with just three touchdowns and two interceptions.
That being said, moving the football against Ole Miss’ front seven won’t be an easy task. For that reason, the Kentucky vs Ole Miss under 52.5 is the play for this Week 5 SEC showdown.
