  • Read below for Army vs Temple prediction, pick and odds

Thursday night college football sees the Army Black Knights (3-0) travel to the City of Brotherly Love to take on the Temple Owls (1-3). Kickoff is set for 7:30 PM EDT from Lincoln Financial Field, with ESPN carrying the broadcast.

Oddsmakers have the Black Knights as 12.5-point road favorites, with the total set at 46.5 points. We’ve locked in our Army vs Temple prediction for Thursday’s lone CFB game.

Here is a look at the Army vs Temple odds, along with our betting prediction for Thursday CFB.

Army vs Temple Odds

Team Spread Moneyline Total
Army -12.5 (-110) -500 O 46.5 (-110)
Temple +12.5 (-110) +380 U 46.5 (-110)

If you’re looking to back the Black Knights, you’ll have to lay some hefty juice, as their moneyline sits at -500. That implies an 84.62% win probability for Army.

On the flip side, if you’re feeling bold and want to ride with the home underdog, Temple’s moneyline is sitting at a juicy +380.

Army’s 3-0 start and dominant rushing attack have certainly caught the attention of the betting market. The Black Knights have covered the spread in all three games this season, winning by an average margin of 25 points.

The 46.5-point total may seem low. However, it reflects Army’s slow, methodical offense. The Black Knights’ ground game eats up the clock, which limits possessions for both teams.

Black Knights Betting Analysis

If you’re a fan of old-school, smash-mouth football, then you’ll love watching this Army team. The Black Knights are averaging a whopping 356 rushing yards per game, thanks in large part to the play of quarterback Bryson Daily.

The junior signal-caller from Chula Vista, California, has been a one-man wrecking crew, leading the team with 340 rushing yards and five touchdowns.

But Daily isn’t the only one getting in on the fun. Running backs Noah Short and Kanye Udoh have been a dynamic duo in the backfield, combining for 435 rushing yards and four TDs. Short, a 5’10”, 200-pound sophomore, has been particularly impressive, averaging a ridiculous 13.3 yards per carry.

On the defensive side of the ball, Army has been equally dominant, allowing just 9.3 points per game. Senior linebacker Kalib Fortner has been the leader of the pack with 14 tackles. The Black Knights have also been opportunistic, forcing four interceptions through three games.

If Army can establish their ground game early and keep Temple’s offense off the field, they should have no problem covering the 12.5-point spread.

Owls Betting Analysis

Temple’s upset hopes rely on quarterback Evan Simon. The 6’2″ junior from Pittsburgh is coming off his best game of the season, throwing for 271 yards and five touchdowns in a 45-29 win over Utah State.

Simon’s favorite target has been senior wideout Dante Wright, who has been a big play waiting to happen. Wright is averaging 20.7 yards per catch and has found the end zone three times this season.

If Simon and Wright can connect on a few deep balls early, it could help soften up Army’s defense and open things up for the running game.

Defensively, the Owns have been exposed this season, allowing 36.5 points and 221.8 rushing yards per game. Senior linebacker DJ Woodbury Sr., a 6’0″, 235-pound tackling machine from Apopka, Florida, will be key in helping stop the Army running game.

While Woodbury can’t do it all himself, the veteran has been impressive with 38 stops in 2024. He’ll do his best to make life difficult for Army’s elite running backs.

Army vs Temple Prediction

As much as I’d love to see Temple pull off the upset in front of their home crowd, I just don’t see it happening. Army’s rushing attack is lethal, and their defense is lights out.

The Black Knights have covered the spread in all three games this season by an average margin of 18.2 points, and I expect that trend to continue on Thursday night.

Some books have moved this line to Army -13, but you can get it at -12.5 at ESPNBet right now. The Black Knights’ ability to control the clock and keep Temple’s offense off the field will be the difference in this one.

Army-Temple Pick:

  • Black Knights -12.5 (-110)
