Prop Picks #1: Miller Moss Passing Yards
Oddsmakers don’t know how exactly to price USC’s new starting quarterback Miller Moss in the props market for Sunday. The 6’1″ California native only started one game last season, torching Lousivulle for 372 yards and six TDs in the Holiday Bowl.
The redshirt junior patiently waited his turn behind Caleb Williams, seeing limited action over the past three seasons. In 12 career games, Moss has completed 71.7% of his passes for 914 yards, nine touchdowns and just one interception.
Moss’ passing yards total for Sunday is set at 288.5, with equal odds to the over and under. I think this is a bit low, considering the game total has climbed into the 60’s with the potential for a shootout.

I’m not rushing to bet this player in the Heisman odds, but I expect a solid performance against a vulnerable LSU secondary. The Tigers gave up 300-plus yards through the air to five different quarterbacks last season, including 342 to FSU in the season opener.
The Trojans ranked sixth in scoring offense last season and should come out firing on Sunday. Moss will have an embarrassment of riches at the skill positions, including dynamic WR Zachariah Branch.
Of course, betting on a fresh starting quarterback is always a slight gamble, but I don’t trust this LSU defense against Lincoln Riley’s high-powered attack. I’m forecasting Moss to toss for 300+ yards in a back-and-forth thriller.
- Pick: Miller Moss Over 288.5 Passing Yards (-114 at FD)
Props Picks #2: Kaleb Jackson Rushing Yards
On the other side of the ball, I’m looking at Kaleb Jackson to be a difference-maker for the Tigers in Sin City. The hometown kid is poised for a breakout sophomore season after showing flashes as a true freshman in 2023.
In his inaugural campaign, Jackson rushed for 165 yards and four touchdowns on just 31 carries (5.3 yards per carry). His bruising running style was on full display, trucking defenders and breaking off chunk plays. He has reportedly transformed his body, adding significant muscle to his powerful 6’0″, 235-pound frame.

Jackson is expected to take on a much larger workload in 2024 as part of a 1-2 punch with veteran Josh Williams. Most projections have him leading the Tigers in rushing this season.
Once again, while Jackson has talent, this pick has more to do with the matchup advantage. The Trojans allowed 4.8 yards per carry last season, ranking 106th out of 133 FBS teams. There was only a single game in which they didn’t surrender at least 100 yards in the ground.
I think LSU will establish the run early and often with their powerful offensive line. This means Jackson’s rushing yards prop of 57.5 has great value, barring he gets 12-15 carries as expected. He has the talent to push for 100+ yards and emerge as one of the SEC’s top backs this season.
- Pick: Kaleb Jackson Over 57.5 Rushing Yards (-114 at FD)
LSU vs USC Touchdown Scorer Props

Josh Williams (LSU) | +900 | +100 | +650 |
Kyren Lacy (LSU) | +950 | +105 | +700 |
Woody Marks (USC) | +1000 | -110 | +500 |
Cj Daniels (LSU) | +1100 | +125 | +950 |
Zachariah Branch (USC) | +1300 | +105 | +650 |
Zavion Thomas (USC) | +1600 | +205 | +1800 |
Mason Taylor (LSU) | +1600 | +205 | +2000 |
John Emery Jr. (LSU) | +1600 | +215 | +1700 |
Trey Holly (LSU) | +1800 | +250 | +2200 |
Chris Hilton Jr. (LSU) | +1800 | +240 | +2200 |
Quinten Joyner (USC) | +1800 | +195 | +1500 |
Duce Robinson (USC) | +1800 | +155 | +1200 |
Aaron Anderson (LSU) | +1900 | +245 | +2200 |
Makai Lemon (USC) | +2000 | +215 | +1800 |
In the LSU vs USC scoring props market, Kaleb Jackson has the best odds to find paydirt at -125 (55.6% implied probability). We don’t mind that play, considering we are forecasting him to make a notable impact. However, we’ve got a plus-money TD prop at even better value.

Anytime TD Picks: Mason Taylor
When it comes to scoring props, I like the value on LSU tight end Mason Taylor to find paydirt. The junior TE has emerged as one of LSU’s top weapons in the passing game and should be a focal point of the Tigers’ game plan.
Taylor was 3rd on the team last year with 36 catches for 348 yards and 1 TD. More promisingly, he had a career-high seven receptions for 88 yards in the ReliaQuest Bowl, which was Garrett Nussmeier’s first start at QB.

Coaches have raved about Taylor’s development, calling him “one of the best tight ends in the country” Offensive coordinator Joe Sloan, meanwhile, said they want to “find ways to get him the ball”. The OC added Taylor could be the first or second read on some plays.
At 6’6″, 250 pounds with good speed, Taylor is simply a matchup nightmare in the red zone. Considering USC allowed eight TDs to tight ends last season — 3rd most in the Pac-12 — you can’t go wrong betting on this unique specimen at +205 against this lackluster USC pass defense.
