The San Francisco Giants (19-25, 11-10 home, 21-21-2 O/U)Â look to do something Wednesday night they’ve failed to do even once since the start of the season: Beat the NL-West leading Los Angeles Dodgers.
In fairness, it’s no easy task. The Dodgers (29-15, 14-7 away, 23-20-1 O/U) have only lost twice in the month of May and have the 2nd best record in the league only behind the Philadelphia Phillies. We’ll see if the Giants can avoid the sweep tonight at 9:45 ET at Oracle Park in San Francisco.

So far this season the Dodgers are 13-6 as the away favorite while the Giants are 2-3 as the home underdog. It’s also worth noting that the Giants are 14-10 this season following a loss. Perhaps most important of all, the Giants have yet to win a game against their NL West rivals this season, sitting at 0-5 in such contests.

The Dodgers have not yet decided who will be on the mound to start tonight’s battle against the Giants, but San Francisco will start RHP Logan Webb, who has started 9 games this season.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts stated Tuesday night that he has “no idea” who will be on the mound to start things off following the Dodgers’ 10-2 win. This means the Dodgers will elect to go with a bullpen game, choosing not to start Tyler Glasnow on four days’ rest in favor of keeping players healthy.
Dave Roberts said there is no pitching “en route” from minor leagues so #Dodgers will go with a bullpen game tomorrow. Ryan Yarbrough pitched on back-to-back days during SD series but will be available for multiple innings if needed

Webb has posted a 3-4 record as for the Giants with an ERA of 3.38. He leads the team in Inning Pitched and is second in strikeouts with 42 behind Kyle Harrison (45). Webb last started a 4-2 loss against the Reds in which he allowed 8 hits, 3 runs (2 earned) with 6 K’s. He has not recorded a win since April 23 against the Mets.
Dodgers vs. Giants Prediction (May 15)
The Dodgers are a wagon this season, as many of you well know. Shohei Ohtani has been Shohei Ohtani while Mookie Betts has been Mookie Betts. The Dodgers hold the leader in the following individual categories so far this season:
- Wins Above Replacement (Betts)
- Offensive WAR (Betts)
- Batting Average (Ohtani)
- Slugging % (Ohtani)
- Hits (Ohtani)
- Total Bases (Ohtani)
- Strikeouts (Glasnow, not starting Wednesday)
And folks, that’s far from the entire list. But the final bullet point from above may be the key in this particular matchup.
As mentioned earlier, the Dodgers will be playing a bullpen game against the Giants, and we’ve already seen that the Giants are favorites to keep the game within a run. Because of the uncertainty in pitching and the Giants playing in front of a home crowd, we’ll take SF to keep things close and maybe even avoid the sweep with a win.
LAD vs SFG pick: Giants +1.5 (-140)Â
