The Philadelphia 76ers (47-37, 25-16 home, 48-37 ATS) are in dire straights as they head home for Game 3 of their best-of-seven series with the New York Knicks (52-32, 23-18 away, 46-35-3 ATS). While the Sixers have legitimate grievances about the officiating in Game 2 (more on that later), the fact remains that they trail the Knicks 2-0 and will be on the brink of elimination if they don’t win Game 3 on Thursday night at Wells Fargo Arena (7:40 pm ET).

The Knicks vs 76ers odds are optimistic that Philly can make this a series. The Sixers are currently listed as 5.5-point favorites for tonight’s Game 3.

The Sixers are also -218 on the moneyline while the Knicks come back as +180 road underdogs on Thursday’s NBA odds. The game total has been set at 204, which is 2.5 points lower than Game 2 and 5.5 points lower than Game 1.

Game 1, a 111-104 Knicks win, went over the total, while Game 2, a 104-101 Knicks victory, stayed under by 1.5 points.

Philadelphia guard De’Anthony Melton (11.1 PPG, 3.7 RPG, 3.0 APG), who hasn’t played since April 12, remains questionable for Game 3 with a back injury.

For the Knicks, center Duncan Robinson (5.6 PPG, 8.5 RPG) is questionable due to an ankle injury.

Sixers Robbed in Game 2?

Philadelphia fans are adamant this series should be tied at 1-1 after sloppy officiating down the stretch of Game 2. The Sixers held a 101-96 lead with just 47 seconds to play, but some flagrant non-foul calls allowed the Knicks to generate turnovers and claw back in front.

Jalen Brunson had a team-high 24 points for the Knicks while Josh Hart added 21 points and 15 rebounds.

On the Philly side, Tyrese Maxey (35 points) and Joel Embiid (34 points) accounted for 68.3% of the Sixers’ offense and both finished with a double-double, Embiid grabbing 10 rebounds and Maxey dishing out 10 assists.

Philadelphia did a much better job on the glass, as a team, in Game 2. The Knicks finished a ludicrous +22 on the boards in Game 1 but just +2 in the second game of the series on Monday.

The NBA player props for Game 3 between the Knicks and Sixers list Embiid with a game-high point total of 31.5, up a point from Game 2. Brunson leads the Knicks players at 28.5, which is down two points from this Game 2 total of 30.5. Hart, recently nicknamed “Josh Barkley” on Basketball Reference for his proficiency on the glass despite only standing 6’4, has the highest rebound total of the night at 12.5. Hart had 13 rebounds in Game 1 and 15 in Game 2.

Knicks vs 76ers Prediction

The Knicks are extremely lucky to be up 2-0 and, that old adage about teams coming back home down 2-0 is going to be at play tonight. The Sixers are 21-5 at home with Embiid in the lineup this season, and know this is a de facto must win. I also expect the Sixers to get the benefit of a few 50/50 whistles tonight as they brutal officiating display from Game 2 has been plastered all over the media.
