Lakers Betting Trends
The Lakers (44-33) have been one of the hottest teams in the NBA, winning eight of their last nine games. They are coming off a 125-120 road victory over the Washington Wizards on Wednesday.
Anthony Davis led the way with 35 points and 18 rebounds, while LeBron James added 25 points, nine assists and seven rebounds. All five Lakers starters scored in double figures as they improved to 24-14 at home.
For the season, the Lakers rank eighth in the NBA in scoring at 117.97 points per game while allowing 117.5 points per contest. They shoot an efficient 49.87% from the field and 37.58% from three. Davis leads the team with 24.8 points, 12.8 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game.

The 38-year-old James is still going strong, averaging 25.4 points, 8.1 assists and 7.3 rebounds. D’Angelo Russell (18.2 ppg, 6.3 apg), Austin Reaves (15.9 ppg) and Rui Hachimura (13.3 ppg) provide scoring depth.
The Lakers are 37-41 against the spread overall and 19-19 ATS at home. The over has hit in 43 of their 77 games. They have covered in five of their last seven contests.
On the injury front, James (ankle) and Davis (knee) are both listed as questionable but are expected to play. Christian Wood (knee), Jarred Vanderbilt (foot) and Jalen Hood-Schifino (back) remain out.
Cavaliers Betting Trends
The Cavaliers (46-31) have hit a rough patch, alternating wins and losses over their last seven games. They fell 122-101 to the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday despite 24 points from Donovan Mitchell. Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen each added 20 points in the loss. Cleveland committed 15 turnovers leading to 25 Phoenix points.
For the year, the Cavs rank 19th in scoring (112.62 ppg) and seventh in points allowed (109.9 ppg). They shoot 47.96% overall and just 36.57% from beyond the arc. Mitchell leads the team with 26.8 points and 6.0 assists per game.

Darius Garland chips in 17.8 points and 6.6 assists, while the frontcourt duo of Mobley (16.0 ppg, 9.7 rpg) and Allen (16.4 ppg, 10.5 rpg) anchor the defense.
Cleveland is 36-39-2 ATS overall and 17-21-1 ATS on the road. The under has cashed in 40 of their 77 games. However, the over is 4-1 in their last five.
The Cavs have some injury concerns as well. Ty Jerome (ankle) and Dean Wade (knee) are out indefinitely. Isaac Okoro (toe) is out while Craig Porter Jr. (illness) is probable.

Player prop odds as of April 6th, 2024 at DraftKings Sportsbook.

Here are a couple of the player props we’ve locked in for today’s game:
Anthony Davis Over 13.5 Rebounds
Davis has been a rebounding machine lately, surpassing 13.5 boards in six of his last seven. With Allen and Mobley focused on helping contain James and Russell drives, Davis should have ample opportunities for putbacks and boards in traffic.
Donovan Mitchell Under 23.5 Points
I’m fading Mitchell in this spot as he’s still getting his legs back after missing time. The Lakers have the wing defenders in James, Reaves and Hachimura to make life difficult and coax him into tough jumpers. Mitchell has stayed under 23.5 points in five of his six games since returning.
Cavs vs Lakers Prediction
The Lakers have been playing inspired basketball and seem poised to make a deep playoff run while the Cavs have been struggling. The star power of James and Davis will be too much for a Cleveland team that hasn’t been able to stop anyone lately.
James and Davis combined for 64 points in the prior meeting, as they present matchup problems with their size and skill. LA should be able to exploit a Cleveland defense that has struggled lately, allowing 111.8 points on 50.4% shooting over their last five games.
With homecourt advantage and momentum on their side, we predict the Lakers outlast the Cavaliers and cover the spread. Look for Davis to dominate inside while James stuffs the stat sheet. The Lakers’ depth and shotmaking ability will ultimately be the difference.
