We’re into the quarterfinals of the 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup and Sunday brings a very intriguing fixture between two rivals as the USA goes to battle with Canada. The kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM ET at TQL Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio and we have your USA vs Canada picks here.
The Americans finish at the top of Group A with a 2-1-0 record and only conceded once. As for the Canadians, they were second in Group D, going 1-2-0. This is the second time these two teams will meet in the last month, with the USMNT beating John Herdman’s side 2-0 in the Nations League final on June 18th.

How to Watch USA vs Canada
In the United States, USA vs Canada can be seen on Univision and FOX. Canadians will be able to watch on OneSoccer, which can also be seen on FuboTV.
USA vs Canada Preview
Despite a squad of mostly MLS players for the Gold Cup, the United States hasn’t really missed a beat. They soared through the group stages in convincing fashion, notching 6-0 wins over Saint Kitts and Trinidad and Tobago while settling for a 1-1 draw with Jamaica.
Jesus Ferreira is the clear star for BJ Callaghan’s men in this competition, bagging back-to-back hat tricks. The FC Dallas man is making a real case for himself to be a part of the USMNT’s plans moving forward in bigger tournaments, even though the opponents weren’t exactly the most daunting. Regardless, six goals in three games is extremely impressive and he leads the tournament in scoring.

Heading into Sunday’s affair, the Americans are now unbeaten in seven straight games, last tasting defeat on January 25th in a friendly with Serbia. Needless to say, they’re in good form.
Like the US, Canada gave their stars from Europe a rest for the Gold Cup. That means no Alphonso Davies, Jonathan David, Tajon Buchanan, or Cyle Larin, among others. In fact, a lot of the names on this roster aren’t even familiar to most fans.
The lack of legitimate talent did show in group play, with Les Rouges settling for a 2-2 draw with Guadeloupe and a scoreless stalemate with Guatemala before beating Cuba 4-2. History isn’t exactly on their side against the US in the Gold Cup, never besting them in the competition in five matches. In fact, they only scored in one of those games, too.

With a much different group of players than we saw in the World Cup and even in the Nations League final, there isn’t a ton of experience. Taking down the US, which is full of quality MLS talent, will be a big ask and is reflected in the USA vs Canada odds where the Canadians are heavy underdogs.

USA vs Canada Prediction
The Americans have looked like the far better side in the Gold Cup and have Canada’s number in the tournament.
No team scored more goals during the Group Stage than USA with 13 goals. No team allowed fewer goals than the one they conceded. Their +12 goal differential was obviously the highest, with Jamaica the next closest at +8.
It’s not just Ferreira who has been in top form this tournament, but both Brandon Vazquez and Djordje Mihailovic have scored two goals each as well. In total, six different players have found the scoresheet this tournament.
The United States are the current defending champions and either the USA or Mexico has won the Gold Cup in each of the past 11 tournaments. This looks like another year where the US will be in the final and therefore advancing here.
I like the hosts here to move on in my USA vs Canada picks.
