- It’s an afternoon matchup between NL East foes the Braves and Phillies on Thursday, June 22nd
- The Braves are slight -115 favorites in a game featuring an over/under total of nine runs
- Don’t miss out on the Braves vs Phillies picks and best bet as we dish out the odds below
Rain washed away the middle game of a scheduled three game set between the Braves (47-26, 23-11 away) and Phillies (38-35, 19-12 home), but hopefully they’ll be able to get one more in before Atlanta departs the city of Brotherly Love. However, wet weather is once again in the cards.
Nevertheless, the Braves will look to make it a two game sweep of their rivals when these teams get set to meet up on Thursday, June 22nd with the first pitch scheduled for 1:05 pm ET. Viewers can see this one on NBC 10 and Bally Sports Network.
Both sides had won six straight coming into this series, although Atlanta struck first blood on Tuesday, snapping the Phillies win streak. Below, you can find the Braves vs Phillies odds as we preview this contest before offering up our best bet and prediction.
Braves vs Phillies Odds
Team | Moneyline | Runline | Total |
---|---|---|---|
Atlanta Braves | -115 | -1.5 (+150) | O 9 (-105) |
Philadelphia Phillies | -105 | +1.5 (-170) | U 9 (-115) |
As the best team in the National League, it’s no surprise that the Braves are -115 favorites for this contest. Philly is one of the best teams to bet against on the run line this season, however, they’ve turned their season around this month, sporting a 13-5 mark in June.
Having an early start scheduled for this one might prove important as the forecasts are saying that there will be a 68% chance of rain during the game. Expect some delays as these two sides attempt to finish off this series.

Atlanta vs Philadelphia Probable Pitchers
Considering all the injuries that they’ve had to deal with in the starting rotation, the Braves have to be overjoyed with the performance of Bryce Elder so far.
Bryce Elder's day comes to an end after six innings of one-run ball. Elder has now gone 19 consecutive outings of at least five innings pitched and lowered his season ERA to 2.60 which is good for second best in the NL behind Marcus Stroman (2.45). #Braves

In just his second season, he’s put up a 5-1 record with a 2.60 ERA, which ranks second in the National League. He threw 54 innings last campaign, four too many to qualify as a rookie this season, or else you can be sure he’d be the favorite in the rookie of the year odds.
This will be the first time Edler faces the Phillies in his career. On the road, his numbers have been even more spectacular this season, with the 24-year old sporting a perfect 3-0 mark and 1.76 ERA away from home.
Elder vs Nola Stats
5-1 | Record | 6-5 |
2.60 | ERA | 4.66 |
1.15 | WHIP | 1.10 |
.237 | OBA | .227 |
3.1 | SO/W Ratio | 3.9 |
Getting an extra days rest due to Wednesday’s rainout, Aaron Nola should be more than fresh when he faces Atlanta. He’s thrown more innings against the Braves than any other squad in his career and done pretty well, with a 15-10 record and 3.51 ERA in 31 starts.
However, he’s struggled over the last month, giving up seven long balls in his last five starts. That’s an ominous omen as he gets set to face one of the best MLB starting lineups. The Braves are tops in team OPS, home runs, and second in batting average.
Braves Dominate National League East Opponents
Part of the reason Atlanta has the best record is due to their dominance over divisional opponents. They’re 18-6 against the other four squads so far and almost halfway through the season, are huge -700 chalk in the division odds.
Updated MLB Power Rankings in terms of World Series % in our @SportsLine MLB model
1. Atlanta Braves (26.7%)
2. Tampa Bay Rays (21.1%)

4. Texas Rangers (10.1%)
5. Houston Astros (6.8%)
6. San Francisco Giants 👀👀(4.9%)— Jake Fetner (@JakeFetnerCBS) June 20, 2023
Having said that, Philadelphia has proven a tough out for the favorites in the World Series odds. They’re 2-3 against Atlanta this year and 5-5 in their last 10 dating back to last season.
Braves vs Phillies H2H Results This Season
Date | Away Team | Home Team | Result |
---|---|---|---|
June 20th | Braves | Phillies | ATL, 4-2 |
May 28th | Phillies | Braves | ATL, 11-4 |
May 27th | Phillies | Braves | PHI, 2-1 |
May 26th | Phillies | Braves | PHI, 6-4 |

In addition, the Phillies love day games, so take that into account when making your bet in the MLB odds for this afternoon contest. During matinee affairs, Philadelphia has a 21-12 record versus a 17-23 mark at night.
Braves vs Phillies Picks
Wet weather might throw a curve into how to bet in this game, but Philly is more apt to deal with tough conditions than the Braves are playing so far south.
While Elder has been spectacular for Atlanta this year, he’s faltered a bit in June allowing four long balls and putting up a 5.19 ERA in three starts. Our prediction is to take the underdogs to get one back, so roll with the Phillies at -105 on the moneyline to take this one from Atlanta.
Pick: Philadelphia Phillies Moneyline (-105)
