There’s already been plenty of SBD content produced for this week’s US Open at Los Angeles Country Club, covering everything from who’s going to win, to who’s most likely to miss the cut.
Now, our attention shifts to the head-to-head market. Each online sportsbook has its own unique set of 72 hole matchups posted, and we’ve plucked our favorites from three different sites.

Our H2H matchup betting card starts with a bet on Patrick Rodgers at -126 odds, but really it’s a bet against his opponent, Keith Mitchell, who’s in miserable form.

Odds as of June 13th at DraftKings Sportsbook, FanDuel Sportsbook, and Bet365. Make sure to checkout the best sportsbook promo codes to wager on the US Open.
Patrick Rodgers Over Keith Mitchell
Mitchell’s game has fallen off a cliff since the Players Championship. He hasn’t posted a result better than 53rd in any of his past six starts, losing strokes tee-to-green in five of those tournaments.
Off-the-tee is the only major category he’s consistently positive in, and at an event that’s going to demand precision iron play and an excellent short game, he’s in trouble.
Keith Mitchell Results – Last 6 Starts
Tournament | Result |
---|---|
RBC Canadian Open | MC |
Memorial | 48th |
PGA Championship | 58th |
Wells Fargo | 59th |
RBC Heritage | MC |
Masters | 53rd |
Over the past 24 rounds, Mitchell ranks 105th in strokes gained approach and 112th in strokes gained around the green. Naturally, his scoring has suffered, checking in at number 82 in that category.
Rodgers meanwhile, has made six of his last seven cuts, with three top-20 results, and a 29th finish at the PGA Championship. He’s gained at least 2.7 strokes tee-to-green in all but one of those seven starts, and is one of the most consistent putters on Tour. He also does hit best work on difficult courses, gaining on average of 0.4 strokes on the field per round.
Pick: Patrick Rodgers (-126 at FanDuel)
Patrick Reed Over Sam Burns
For our next selection, stats don’t tell the whole story. But even if they did, we’d still be targeting Patrick Reed over Sam Burns.
Reed is a glaring value in the US Open odds at 75-1, and shines brightest on the biggest stage. Since 2018, he’s gained the 10th most strokes at Major Championships out of the entire field. He’s made the cut in 14 of his past 15 Major starts, racking up a 4th place showing and an 18th place finish at the season’s first two Major Championships.
Patrick Reed has made the cut in 8 of 9 US Open starts with 4 T20s and a T4.
T18 at the PGA and T4 at Augusta this year. $7500 on DK.
Hard to envision him not having a weekend tee time this week.

Burns meanwhile, has made the weekend in only five of his past nine Major appearances, with zero finishes inside the top-20. He failed to make the weekend at the PGA Championship last month, and enters the week with three missed cuts over his last five tournaments.
Pick: Patrick Reed (-110 at DraftKings)
Rickie Fowler Over Cameron Young
Our last selection is banking on the resurgent form of Rickie Fowler, and the horrendous recent play of Cameron Young.
Young has missed two of his past three cuts, and is fresh off dropping nearly three strokes on approach at the RBC Canadian Open. He’s been a negative on the greens in nine of his past 12 starts, and hasn’t gained total strokes on the field in any tournament since the RBC Heritage two months ago.
Fowler on the other hand, has 11 top-20 finishes in 13 tournaments this season. He’s fresh off back-to-back top-10 results, and also finished 13th at the Players, the biggest non-Major event of the year.

While Young’s iron play and short game are a mess, Fowler’s are back to being elite. He ranks 14th in the field in strokes gained approach over the last 24 rounds, and 15th in strokes gained on and around the green.
Picks: Rickie Fowler (-110 at Bet365)
