BC Place will be the scene on Wednesday evening as the Vancouver Whitecaps welcome Montreal FC to town for the Canadian Championship Final. The kick-off is scheduled for 10 PM ET. Read on for an analysis of Vancouver Whitecaps vs CF Montreal.
The ‘Caps are the reigning champions of the all-Canadian tournament, beating Toronto FC in the showpiece last May. This competition consists of all MLS and CPL sides. TFC is the most successful club of the lot, winning it a total of eight times since it was introduced in 2008.

Vancouver Whitecaps vs CF Montreal Preview
The Whitecaps are currently in the midst of a respectable MLS campaign, sitting in sixth place in the Western Conference with a 5-5-6 record. On Saturday, Vanni Sartini’s men settled for a 1-1 draw with Sporting KC, who are out of the playoff picture at the moment.

Ryan Gauld was the savior for Vancouver, scoring from the penalty spot in the 88th minute to help his club salvage a crucial point. As for the Canadian Championship, the ‘Caps comfortably moved past Pacific FC in the semifinals, winning 3-0. Julian Gressel, Ali Ahmed, and Simon Becher all found the back of the net.
Montreal is having a difficult season. They’re occupying 10th in the East and have won just once in their last five outings. Unfortunately, Hernan Losada’s squad is coming off a deflating 3-0 defeat to the Philadelphia Union as well, dropping their record to 6-9-1.

However, CF has managed to find some success in the Canadian Championship. They’ve actually won the tournament five times and finished as a runner-up on two other occasions, most recently lifting the trophy in 2021 after beating Toronto.
Montreal took down CPL outfit Forge FC in the semifinals courtesy of goals from Sunusi Ibrahim and Ariel Lassiter. They even took down TFC in the quarters as well by a score of 2-1 in the always hostile BMO Field.

Vancouver Whitecaps vs CF Montreal Prediction
The hosts are evidently in much better form and tend to play very well at BC Place. Montreal hasn’t really proven much this term and doesn’t exactly have a ton of confidence right now. With the Vancouver crowd behind them, I expect the Whitecaps to produce the goods here and win another Canadian Championship.
