Guadalajara vs Tigres Preview
It was no surprise that the first leg of this final was close and goalless. Both semifinals had low-scoring first legs (1-1 and 1-0) and this was never going to be any different, but it was Guadalajara who came away the most relieved of the two after being dominated by Tigres and having just 32 percent of the possession. They had just seven shots compared to Tigres’ 14.
So Guadalajara head coach Veljko Paunovic will be content that his team emerged with a clean sheet and will now be hoping they can use home advantage to get the job done. But to do so they will need to get more than a single shot on target, as they did in the first leg, albeit Guadalajara also only had one.

Paunovic Hoping for an Azteza-Type Performance
Paunovic will be demanding of his men a repeat of their performance in the second leg of the semifinal when, after losing the first and home leg 1-0 to Club America, they went to the world-famous Azteca Stadium and, in front of a crowd of over 67,000, produced their best form to dramatically win 3-1.
The dynamic is different in that they are on home terrain in this second leg, but a similar level of performance would likely be enough to claim the trophy.
Tigres to Regret Not Winning at Home?
For Tigres, the first leg was one that got away, and their failure to turn their 68 percent of possession and 14 shots into at least one goal may come back to haunt them. But, it’s also worth noting that despite finishing the regular season down in seventh place, they have played their best soccer of the season in the playoffs. They just need to find one more huge performance.
En route to this final have already overcome Monterrey – the number one seeds and the team that finished top of the regular season table – after drawing 1-1 in the first (home) leg and then pulling off one of the results of the season to win 1-0 in the away tie. So Tigres be hoping that history can repeat itself.

More Head-To-Head Wins for UANL
In terms of heads-to-heads between these two, Tigres have the upper hand overall, with 12 wins from their 28 games, while Guadalajara have won just six, but crucially the hosts have had the better of their most recent meetings – winning two of the last three.
Everything points to this being very close, with extra time and even penalties a possibility.

Guadalajara vs Tigres Prediction
This promises to be close but Tigres have very recent experience of overcoming an underwhelming home leg and then getting the job done in the away tie.
For me, at better than 2/1, the value here is with the away win and Tigres winning the trophy without the need for extra time or pens.
Guadalajara vs Tigres Picks: Tigres to win (+215) / Over 2.5 goals (+125)
