Bayern Munich vs RB Leipzig Preview
Bayern’s decision to replace Julian Nagelsmann with Thomas Tuchel as head coach looks to be paying dividends with the Bavarians, after an untypically tricky season, now just two wins – possibly just one – away from winning a record-breaking 32nd Bundesliga title.
It’s not been all plain sailing for Tuchel, however, but a difficult run of games that saw his team exit the UEFA Champions League and the DFB Pokal and then lose away at Mainz now looks to be behind them as they close in on the title. In their last three, they have beaten Hertha Berlin (2-0) and Werder Bremen (2-1), and thrashed Schalke 6-0.

Home Comforts for Bayern
If Bayern can avoid defeat against Leipzig, it will be another season where they have gone unbeaten in the Allianz Arena. So far they have won 11, drawn five, and lost none on home soil in the Bundesliga – a phenomenal run that has been the backbone of their 2022-23 title charge.
When these two met in late January in the reverse fixture at the Red Bull Arena, it ended 1-1, with Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting giving Bayern a halftime lead only for it to be wiped out in the second half through Marcel Halstenberg.
Leipzig Close In on a Champions League Place
For Leipzig, the task in hand right now is to qualify for next season’s Champions League. While they have just been outside the title race for most of the season, they have consistently hovered around the top four and a win in either of their final two games would guarantee them a UCL place.
Equally, a defeat for Freiburg at Wolsgburg on Friday would also guarantee that UCL place for RB without them having to kick a ball! But Leipzig do not have to rely on favors from others, and their fine defensive record away from home – they have conceded just six goals in eight away games in 2023 – suggests they could even get the job done in Munich.

A DFB-Pokal Final Awaits for Leipzig
A place in the UCL is not the only thing left for Leipzig to fight for this season as they also have an upcoming DFB-Pokal final against Eintracht Frankfurt. So their season could yet end with some silverware but for this weekend, their focus will be all on that top-four place, which if achieved would mean they have competed in the UCL in six of the last seven seasons.
What may count against Leipzig ahead of tomorrow’s game is a terrible record in the Allianz Arena, where they have won just one in their last 16 encounters – losing nine and drawing six. On the plus side, their current form is very good with seven wins in their last eight in all competitions.

Bayern Munich vs RB Leipzig Prediction
With Leipzig in such a good run of form, this is unlikely to be the goal-fest the bookies are predicting. But with Bayern needing a win to close in on the title, their incentive to eke out a win is massive.
The odds on offer for the home win are unappealing but based on Leipzig making Bayern work hard for the win, the under 2.5 goals at better-than 2/1 looks like excellent value
